I survived the time without a retainer without any major movement thankfully. It's odd but my teeth looked even better after a day or two with some subtle movement, and the bite was more comfortable.
Anyway, skip ahead to this afternoon and I got my essix retainers. They fitted fine and were pretty tight, so that's a good sign! I wear them 24/7 for one week, and then nightly for 4 months when I will get a checkup. They are already irritating, mainly because my mouth feels bulky again and I need to train my speech a bit. My teeth seem to be back to last Friday's state, so my bite doesn't feel quite as comfortable as earlier, but it'll adjust over time.
So all in all, things are good. Everything is so much easier without braces. I always said that if there were serious problems in years to come that I would do the whole treatment again, but this freedom had made me rethink that promise. I'll just have to make sure things don't relapse, ever!
