Thanks dagwoman, jenny, miss smiley, oski and Ken! Your words are so kind and are extremely encouraging. I'm not too worried about those gaps! In fact I'm actually quite excited about them because they are proof my teeth are on the move!

My camera is pretty good, just a compact, snappy camera. It's a Canon Ixus 75, and has a lovely big 3" screen. I think these photo's are especially clear this time because I sat very close to my window to let the natural light in the picture, so no flash would go off.

Tomorrow is my 2nd adjustment, I can't wait! Watch this space for new photo's tomorrow :D

Take care,
Pearls

I had my 2nd adjustment today. It went quite well. I got a new wire on the bottom, which the ortho referred to as "16, 22", but unfortunately i have no idea what that means. I didn't get a new wire for the top :( but I guess that means that things are working well.

Here are some pics!

Pearls has her 3rd adjustment - fantastic news! Pics p 7!

#96 Post by pearls »

I had my 3rd adjustment today. Everything seems to be going well. I was given a new archwire on the bottom, which is the same size as last time, (16 22), but this time my ortho put a couple of bends in the wire to straighten up my lower canines, because one is high and one is low. I didn't get a new wire on the top, but my ortho has promised I'll get a new one next visit, and he'll take care of my gap which has formed too. It's been about 6 hours since my adjustment, and my teeth are a bit sensitive, but not bad at all :D

I chose silver ligs this time, and was worried they would be too boring, or would excentuate the metalness on my teeth, but they don't - I love them!

Here are some pics. The last photo you can see the bend in my lower wire.

I also have some excellent news. I am planning to travel around the USA next year for about 4 - 5 months from around June. I asked my ortho if it's a bad idea that I travel for an extended period of time without having a braces adjustment, but he said that I might even have my braces off by then! After looking at my teeth for a while, he repeated that there are chances of having my braces removed before June. I can't believe it! That would be sooooo great!

Thanks for reading!

Thanks Melissa and Ken! I always love to hear words of encouragement and congratulations :D

Ken - I am super super excited about my trip to the US. I'm not leaving for 10 months, but I am still going crazy with excitement. My plan so far is do be a staff member in a summer camp for 9 weeks. The summer camps available generally tend to be in Pennsylvania, New York, Maine, North Carolina etc. I am hoping to make friends with some of the other camp staff, then travel all over the US. Places I have in mind are: New york, Miami, Washington DC, California, Philly (for the Rocky steps!), Vegas of course, Arizona (to see my best friend's aunt and uncle) and Montana (to see my aunty and uncle).
Do you have any suggestions on any place to visit, or any attractions to see? It's always helpful to get an American's idea of what to see!

Great news, Pearls! I don't know which would be more exciting...getting your braces off or going on that fabulous trip!! :D

Your teeth are looking terrific too!! I'd love to have the option of different lig colours to add some excitement to having braces  .
Keep smilin'! :)

Ken your info is absolutely fabulous. Thank you so much! Although I'm starting to think that I might need more than 2 months to travel! There are just so many wonderful places to visit. I have heard of Cedar Point before, and have seen it's website and it looks massive! The roller coasters over there are unbelievable. Definately putting that place down on my itinerary! I never knew Montana had hot springs and mud baths! That is so exciting. When I have the time I will google all of the places you suggested and make a list of places to see! Again, thank you so much!

And thank you for your compliment Jenny :) I definately think the US trip would be more exciting than getting my braces off. Although it would be an excellent treat if I were able to have them removed before my holiday! Because that way I don't have to worry about any time restraints due to an overdue appointment, AND I can have naked teeth in my photo's! (not that I really care I have braces in photo's). Choosing lig colours is fun, but my ortho office has a really small range, and only a few colours look appealing. I really like my silver ones at the moment though :)

So it's 4:15am and I can't sleep, and what better thing to do than compile a comparison file of my top arch progress over my 4 months! Maybe another night where I can't sleep I can compare my lowers, or side bite.

So here it is, I hope it's motivational for some viewers! I'm hoping I get powerchains and my next appointment.

You can see my poor skills in Paint!

Thanks melissa! Your comment was sweet. And although they have made a lot of progress, they're not quite perfect yet!

I still have a silly gap on my left side, and my lateral insicors need some evening out. (easier to see on front-on photo's)

Here are the comparison photo's of my lowers! They actually look better from this angle than front on, because front on shows how my teeth are eneven lengths and need some pulling up and pushing down!

Hi Pearls! I'm new to the forum and stumbled on your braces story! Things are looking AMAZING! I hope it works that well for me! (I'm looking to get ceramics in the next month hopefully).

I wanted to respond because I'm in DC. :) It's a fantastic area to visit (not bad to live either - we're in the suburb and I grew up here but I've travelled lots so I can kind of compare) and there's lots to do! Just let me knw if you want some feedback on stuff to do based on your schedule. And hey, I'm a professional wedding & portrait photographer, so if your braces are off, I'll do a photo shoot free of charge for you to celebrate your new teeth! :)
