PrincessPeach HI!!!
Oh yeah, I've got one more final due, one more project due, and a whole lot of headache. I tell you, just when I get a chance to breathe something always, always, ALWAYS! comes up! I love school and despise the work all at the same time. Good luck with your exams too!!!
Alibracket!
LOL!!! I've been couching it at my job. Aimlessly staring at my screen trying to relax from all this homework. Don't even think to ask me how I'm able to do that at work . It's virtually impossible but somehow...I make due. I have too say though, my poor teeth have suffered. I still brush well at least 2-3x daily, BUT, flossing has escaped my grasp. I floss on days I don't come home at 10:30pm or days I'm not up until after 11pm which these days, seems to be only on Friday, Saturday, and occasionally Sunday depending what's going on . I'm such a slacker! I hope my teeth don't fall out!
I've got an appointment on Monday by the way...I guess better get my act together...

Braces, college, and work are a chore as a combination! Kind of painful at times too. Let's hope those grades for the other essays look fabulous . I'm slowly trying to get back in the swing of things to read other threads and tell my stories, but this project I have due tonight is driving me batty! Hopefully I'll finish before class starts! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your hectic schedule to come say hi to me! I feel so priviledged!

Buenos Dias Ladies and Gents!
I have officially returned! Not because I finished all of my finals but because I received a grade for all of them (2 A's and a B! Woo hoo!) and now...I owe my teacher a project.
This, is a very good thing because well...I got a new toy! An HP for this web design voodoo I'm trying to do. Now I don't have to run to the lab at my school to complete homework and assignments (Insert sigh of relief here_________). I feel like I just scratched an irritated gum . This now means I'll be posting besides work when I don't have work to do at home and I don't have to rely on the computers at my school to clean up my photos for AW! I'm SOOOOOOOOOO happy. Especially since I'll have some confidentiality and not have to worry about it the person sitting behind me is staring aimlessly at my crooked grill smile.
Anywho,
Pics will be coming up as soon as I go to my ortho appointment on Monday 12/28. I had to postpone it because of school . I can't wait until then because my blue ligs look more like sea green . Even greater news, I've stopped clenching! I don't know when it happened. I just know my jaw hasn't been hurting after I wake up.
I know I was going to schedule my extractions for the beginning of this month but that hasn't worked. I'm shooting for the beginning of next month around the 4th I presume. I'm not looking forward to it. I'm still a little apprehensive but hey, no pain, no gain.
I've also taken note that I'm babbling and I'm going to slow down and end my reintroductory letter now It's been awesome. Talk to you all in a few!

Good Day!!!

Thanks for stopping by! I can't wait to show them either! I do a lot of theorizing when it comes to my teeth movement. I don't know exactly what this archwire is doing but I bet I can come up with an idea of what I think it's doing .
Yeah that one C does do alot of damage! What really bothers me is you have to put 110% of an effort for school and there is virtually no time to slack off or in other terms there is no time to relax! It's like geez! Can I at least get 5 hours of sleep at night? I hope you get great grades next semester so your overall GPA raises.

You know it's funny how once you get braces you subconsciously think about them. The dreams are something else! A part of one dream I remember very vividly. In the dream I must've just got my extractions or something but I remember looking in the mirror at my teeth and seeing a) I had a gap and b) my two front uppers looked like they didn't like each other and had cooties or something because they were pointed in the opposite direction. They looked alot like this )(
You see how the bottom of the sequence looks? That is exactly how they were pointed. For some reason in the dream even though I looked like I had significant tooth problems, I thought they were making progress!
Whew! I gotta lay off the spicy foods before bed, it's clouding my judgment
I gotta wish my upper row a happy 3 month braceversary! 3 months in the tin never felt so good.

Buenos Dias Buckey, remember me
I've been MIA for a while there, but now I'm back among the living and the first thing after updating my story was to catch up on your progress. Glad to hear you're doing well at school - two A's and a B All those sleepless nights paid off Hope you had a good Xmas and also that your appointment went well. What is the next goal for your teeth? I know you're about to get those premolars extracted and you're not looking forward to it, so perhaps you could consider getting it done when you're not there? I mean, you're not there mentally, because you'd be sleeping? I had two of my wisdom teeth removed that way and it was great First they gave me the nitrogen gas, which made me feel like I wasn't quite myself, but completly relaxed me to the point when I was just babbling uncontrolably, and then they put me under and next thing I remember was waking up in recovery. If I'm ever going to get teeth pulled or a root canal, that's the only way to do it.
I can see you're continuing your adventures in food - eggroll... you are BRAVE!!! and to eat it in front of other people! My admiration for your eating-in-braces skills continues
Looking forward to seeing you progress in pictures.

AAAAAHHHH!!!! Pretty Woman!!!
OMG it's PrettyWoman!
I'm so glad to hear from you . Welcome back to AW! Just like you, I took a break from AW. I didn't feel like looking at a computer screen to do anything except my job and indulging in some free online books. But typing? Oh no. My evenings were filled with homework where I..you guessed it! Had to look at a computer screen! But you're so right! It paid off bigtime! I was very shocked at the outcome and extremely proud of myself. Anywho, I don't celebrate Christmas but I do celebrate Hanukkah, and I had a great time. Lots of food .
That sounds like a great idea to get put down for the teeth pulling because I'm not that excited about it. I was also given another option yesterday during my appointment that I will go in full detail about in my next posting. Coming up very shortly from now. If you did some uncontrollable babbling, I can only imagine what I'd do or say. I babble uncontrollably without narcotics . Maybe it'll be the same effect as a child with ADHD on ritlin, But who knows until it happens?
Poor eggroll is usually only introduced to my wires . But after much tongue searching I'm able to get it down my throat and into my stomach. I've tried some other eating endeavours that I'll post momentarily . Pictures will be posted this evening. I didn't bring my laptop to work .
Enough about me...How are you and the journey doing?

Ola ladies and gents!
P.S. - PrettyWoman of course I remember you!!!
Well guys first I want to say YESSSSSSS!!! Camel Cowboy the good ol' smoking Ortho that normally worked on my teeth isn't the only Ortho in that office anymore! Woo hoo!!! There's a new guy and I don't have to try to take time off work to switch offices anymore!!! Not only that, he is very detailed. I love it when they talk orthodontic terms to me about my overjet . However, there was a catch with the new Dr.
He...Dropped the S bomb on me.
Yes. We talked about jaw surgery yesterday. Now I'm torn. Extractions or jaw surgery. After looking at my condition, considering my frequent headaches, this crunching noise my jaw seems to make now, my receding chin, and the possibility of me having to get the surgery in the future including having to re-open where my extractions where (or are gonna be) to make room for implants. I guess 1-4 weeks off of work doesn't sound that bad after all.
If anyone has any suggestions for my surgery/extraction ordeal please, please, PLEASE! Let me know.
The Ortho said the outcome for both would be good but the tech said she had an overjet, (and it was from sucking her thumb until she was 16! Score!) had teeth removed and still has a minor overjet. Are the extractions really still worth it? I have no clue anymore!
Anywho.
I've resulted to eating popcorn. I was happy about it too! I can't stand how all kinds of foods are brought in during the holiday season because I always want to eat it! Especially if it has a really high sugar content. Just like that Carmel Popcorn I ate.
I'm a very bold and daring person .
I'll post pics later on tonight if I have enough oil in my engine .
Ciao for now!!!

After viewing one of my favorite AW members thread (PrettyWoman) I remember one thing that I didn't mention! At my next appointment, They'll be fixing my smile so my upper incisors match up! Alright!!!!!! NO More longer incisor!
It's too bad I have to wait until January 21st to get it fixed though .

Glad to have you back on the board, post-holiday-school stuff.
Re: surgery -vs- extraction..I've had neither, but my advice would be to first consider the function of your jaws/bite. If the best solution to those issues is surgery, go for it and be done with it. The next consideration is aesthetics. If you don't mind a slight overjet, and the doc things the jaw issues will resolve with your complete orthodontic treatment plan, then perhaps extractions are enough. You could go with the extractions first, and see how you progress method. Confusing, I know. If you trust this new doc, I'd question him more about your treatment and what he believes he can accomplish with all the options, maybe during an out-of-the-chair-fingers-out-of-your-mouth moment.
Let us know what you decide! 2010 will see LOTS of changes for all of us AW folks, to be sure!

Hi Buckey
It's soooo nice to open AW and see your posts I'm also very proud of your academic achievements and I'm sure you'll do at least that well next semester. My admiration is even greater because you also work and I don't know where you find the time, will power and stamina to study in your free time. Well, I guess college is a little like braces: you suffer for a while, but the results last a lifetime and are totally worth it I know exactly what you mean when you talk about being too tired to type... it takes A LOT of effort And then you have to think about what you want to say, which is even harder... There are days when I can just stare at the screen, but after a while the urge to share my thoughts with the world comes back LOL
Gald to hear your Hanukkah celebrations went well (btw: sorry about the Xmas assumption!!!) and there was a lot of food. This is the time of the year when many people can't even look at food anymore (myself included )
I read your post about the new ortho and his suggestion for surgery vs. extractions and this is a serious dilemma!! I'm not qualified to give you any meaningful advice, but you may want to consider another "second opinion". If I were presented with such choice, I would definitely ask at least one more ortho. Surgery is a serious thing, but so are the extractions. This is a tough choice - maybe once you post some recent pics, other fellow Metal Mouthers will provide more input.
The nitrogen gas was definitely a fun experience I wonder if they sell it at a pharmacy? There are days when I could use some, I would finally tell everyone exactly what's on my mind without worrying about the consequences The effect was not like ADHA, I didn't want to move, just the babbling... If you end up getting extractions, please give it a try - I would love to read about your experience
On the eating front, I can only try to imagine how skilled you are to be eating eggrolls But popcorn - that's different! I must admit, I've had popcorn at least 5 times in the last several weeks and really enjoyed it Please, anyone reading this, don't mention it to my ortho In my defence I can say that I brushed my teeth thoroughly and then followed up with WaterPik. And of course I chewed very carefully, so my braces did not sustain any damage. I also ate hazelnuts, almonds and cashews, just couldn't resist... Still that's nothing compared to eggrolls
When I read your post about the Camel Cowboy, I was laughing so hard I almost fell off my chair Where do you get these ideas? I want some please And I remember Seniorita Man Hands (SMH) from one of your older posts - when I went for my last adjustment and the assistant was opening my brackets, I kept wondering if she and SMH could possibly be twin sisters Maybe she started reading my mind, because after a rough start she finished off gently. I was even considering asking her to give me that tool and a mirror and I would open my own brackets and take out my archwires - do you think she would let me
It's very exciting about your incisors!!! I can imagine they are bothering you, although I must admit they look pretty good to me But if there is one thing I learned from having braces it's the fact that only the perfect teeth are good enough now Where I would have settled before, I will demand perfection now. And even if nobody else sees what I see, I know it's there and I want it fixed NOW Too bad you have to wait almost a month, but on the other hand, in less than 4 weeks your incisors will be picture perfect That's a very good thing.
