Hmm... can you discuss your worries with the surgeon, in regards to the problems it may cause down the line? That may help with the decision? Or have your ortho discuss it with him? I'm not sure how it works there.

Ugh...wisdom teeth. I feel for you. I have no clue about what's gonna happen with the one i've got left. I'm kinda hoping it never comes through!

Hows the first month in braces been treating you? I see your 1st adjustments coming up. My next one is on the 17th. She's supposed to be rearranging a bracket  I'm definitely not looking forward to it as my upper teeth are more sensitive and don't like being yanked around! They make weird cracking noises if I put too much pressure on some of them. If she pulls too hard on the bracket, my tooth will probably come out still attached to it

Have you noticed any movement in your teeth yet. The jury is still out on mine. I noticed some in the 1st month, and then she said the new wire would level out my teeth more but I really can't tell. I guess I'll just have to take more photos soon. I'm just sick of all the gaps. I was glad to be rid of my powerchains but now I want the darn things back!

I think I might have to do that drgnchsr36, just to let him know my concerns about it 'ruining' the work my braces do. I guess it's worth a try.

Hi Jay04,

Yeah they can certainly be a nightmare! Maybe my last one will never try to erupt, but it's that not knowing that's a pain... especially after someone telling me it could push my lowers out of line again.

It's gone well thanks, no problems really. The soreness/sensitivity pretty much went by about week 3, I only have it on and off now. Lol, I have the same thing, my teeth feel mobile and make that cracking noise too... it's really weird

Yeah I have had some movement. I can see it in photos and in the past week I can feel it too. My upper 1st premolars now hit on my lower teeth, where as before they didn't because they were tipped inwards (towards the roof of my mouth, if that makes sense). When I compare pictures (and feel), I'd say that's pretty much the only movement I can tell of so far. I really can't wait until my two front teeth move! especially the top left one as that's the most crooked and I hate it.

I'm taking photos every 2 - 4 weeks to compare and see if there's been any movement. I really just can't tell too much when looking in the mirror, everything looks the same to me. But I guess that's because I don't have a 'before mirror' to compare with.

How come your powerchains have gone then? will they be going back on again later on?

I hope everything goes smoothly at your adjustment on the 17th. I look forward to hearing about your next update.

I have no clue why she took my powerchains off actually. I don't usually ask many questions as she's a great ortho and I trust that she knows what she's doing. I think I'd be watching my teeth like a hawk if she told me exactly what she was trying to do, so I think i'd rather not know anyway  Its pretty funny coz I see people on this site saying it took so long for their ortho to do this or that, and I always seem to be in and out of the chair within 10 minutes. I'm wondering if most of their visits were taken up by question time. I must be the least inquisitive adult patient ever! haha.

Hope you stick up some new pics after your adjustment so we can all stare and scrutinize them for any movement haha. I'm gonna try and put up my pics on the 20th as thats my 2 month braceversary. :jump:

16th December 2010 - Update pictures

#95 Post by BraceFace2o1o »

So today I have been in braces 4 weeks (28 days). I just finished eating a cake my mum bought me today from the local bakery... and I noticed my front teeth have started hurting again :( it was really hard to eat and my teeth felt so sore biting into a lovely soft cake! oh well.

So I took another photo today. Here is my before picture next to my 28 day photo:
Image

Yay! I think my upper left central incisor is moving :D. It's not overlapping the left lateral incisor as much as before and it isn't at such an angle either (poking into my upper lip)... woop! :jump:

I'm starting to notice it's really hard to get a photo at the same angle every time! in my 28 day photo, I am looking more to the left. Also, I hate how my cameras flash sometimes makes me teeth look more yellow and sometimes more white! I can never remember the EXACT setting I use to take my teeth photos. Oh and by the way, those white/yellow blobs next to my brackets aren't plaque! it's the glue used to stick the brackets to my teeth :(

My adjustment is on the 20th, so only a few days to go. With how my front teeth are feeling, I am not looking forward to someone poking around my teeth.

I don't really ask too many questions either. I've actually gone in wanting to ask something, then totally don't botre because I feel like I am being annoying

Thank you luchababe! :D. I have no idea how it's moving, there's literally no space in my mouth/between teeth :?

Hi there, :-1

I was just looking at your pics....the angle you took your picture at is almost the same angle I've been taking mine. Our tops, from the inside looking up, look almost alike. And I must say, mine...took FOREVER, to even get to the point their at right now. And, they've still got a ways to go. I don't know why they move so slowly. (my bottoms were in line in less than 3 months) My Ortho has tried everything. I've been getting my top 4 wire tied...AND...ligs. Still, they move like a turtle. Although lately, do they feel loooooooooose. Like their going to fall right out. No pulling with those babies. How about you. Do yours feel loose at all? Anyway, congrats on the movement. It's so nice when you finally start to see some!!!!

Oo-er missus! my left lateral incisor is giving me jip (or is that gip, gyp, jyp? I have no idea!) and is realllllly sore :( Damn tooth! But it has definitely moved, so maybe that's where all the soreness is coming from.

I'm going to try and see if I can purchase some Difflam from a local pharmacy/Boots next week. I read about it in a thread RunningMad made. It can be used to numb the mouth - sounds good to me, maybe I'll be able to eat and enjoy my Christmas dinner :D. RunningMad said they didn't need a prescription to buy it, I hope that's the case in my local Boots store... because when I search for the product on their website it says "These results are to be used if you have a prescription for the items you searched for." :?

Heyyy jensceana73 :-1 thanks for stopping by
Although I am loving the movement, a part of me is saying to myself "maybe I shouldn't be wanting/expecting them to move toooo fast... because of all those posts I've read about how moving teeth too fast is bad!" :? . Hmm, either way I think us brace wearers can't win

They have felt a bit loose, but I literally just gave one or two a wiggle just now to check lol (I probably shouldn't keep doing that) and they seem to be even more loose now  like I could actually wiggle them slightly, so yeah, mine are definitely loose... kinda scarey huh? Although I keep reading "it's normal, it's normal" from others on the forum :GapToothed:

Hey lu lu,

My first adjustment went well thanks, I managed to get there as the snow wasn't too bad :D

I was only in the chair for about 5-10 minutes, but waited in reception for over 30 mins as he was really busy yesterday. I only had my wire ties and ligatures changed, so no wire change. I now have Black ligatures. Wire ties are on my left 1st premolar, lateral incisors and central incisors. My two central incisors have ligs as well as wire ties :? so yeah, things have been swapped around/changed apart from the wire. Most of my teeth were tender but him tugging at them wasn't too bad, but my left lateral incisor (tooth next to front teeth) WOW  I jumped 3 times when he removed the wire tie and replaced it, owwwwwwwwwww! it hurt bad.

He also checked my bite and said my lowers can go on at my next appointment :D. My next appointment/adjustment was needed for 7 weeks time. So I go back on the 9th February, a few days after my birthday, to have my uppers adjusted and my lowers fitted. He also said I will probably have some IPR done at that appointment too.

No pain or soreness :D, so I should be able to eat over Christmas ok. I remember when I had my braces fitted last month, about 9 hours after OUCH! but none of that this time, so it's all good.

Chrystal,
I just looked at your pic comparison. I think you should take a better look! Your teeth have moved quite a bit. Look at your incisors and canines! Also look at the overall change in the alignment of your molars. I think you are making great progress!

Just popping on quickly to say ...

Dinner is soon and I already feel really bad about the fizzy drinks I'll be drinking today (with, and without alcohol!)... all that sugar in fizzy drinks doesn't sound good with braces (I think they call fizzy drinks 'pop' or 'soda' in the US, basically drinks like Coca-Cola and not the diet kind!)

Hi uvraise,

I took another look and you are right! :D My canines, laterals and incisors have been really sore the past few days, especially since my adjustment. So the paracetamol is coming out for dinner today! Thank you for stopping by and it's great to hear others are able to notice the difference in my pics. I thought I was starting to imagine movement and that no one else could quite see what I was rambling on about. I hope you are having a good Christmas :-1

28th December - I look like ugly betty...

#104 Post by BraceFace2o1o »

Well not much too much to report really. Teeth aren't hurting at all at the moment, which me likes. Bite's changing daily by the feel of it :? at the moment, when I close my bite, the only teeth that touch are my left side 2nd upper and lower molars and right side 1st upper and lower premolars  any other teeth in my mouth no longer meet!

Flossing seems to be going rather well. I use regular floss, which is good because it's as cheap as chips. Brushing is getting on my nerves (wow, still another 17 - 23 months to go), especially on/around the teeth that have elastic hooks on the brackets :x

This coming Thursday (30th) I will have been in braces 6 weeks. I will probably post update pictures to see if there's any change... or I might wait until the 8 week point.

Here is a photo I took of me smiling while showing my teeth... even though I've only been in braces 1.5 months, I am already liking the changes
Image

Oh and just for the fun of it, here I am pulling a silly face and will call it my ugly betty impression LOL. I went for an eye test the other week (last one I had was about 12 years ago) and found out I need glasses for reading/using PC... I honestly thought I'd walk away free :?. Picked up my glasses last week
