Re: Sunshiney Saga
There's a thread in metal mouth called "avoiding flossing". After reading that thread I bought the floss fish and dentek braces clean flossers to try

Re: Sunshiney Saga
I use a Waterpik.........I have a base unit and a portable. Also use GUM trees...little green flossers.
Don't always have my reading glasses, so I need a fast good way to get things clean.
I have a power chain, and I would not be able to floss if I didn't have the this equipment.
As my teeth move I can feel the difference in the spacing with the trees......Hope it helps......

Re: Sunshiney Saga
I agree with Alisonpv, the Dentek Braces Clean Flossers are great. I gave up using the floss threader after a couple days and started using the flossers. The threader just seems so time consuming!

Re: Sunshiney Saga
I felt terribly self conscious about my braces for about 4 months. Don't worry that feeling will pass once you start to see results. You are doing a good thing for yourself if for no other reason than the fact that you're making a huge investment in your future oral health. Hang in there!

Re: Sunshiney Saga
I got the braces flossers and love them.
I still dont have any pain.
I can pretty much eat anything I want but Im avoiding chips.
Thursday will be 2 weeks so last night I got an app to do side by side pics. ugh I see no difference at all. I read so many people on here that have movement right away.
I'm still semi hiding from people. The immediate people I work with know and its not a big deal around them now except I still feel like I talk funny. There are a group of 30 people I have to see off and on when I go through their work space. Ive avoided it by going through right when I get to work so that noone is there yet. Im so lame.

It will get better. Just give yourself some time and try not to be so hard on yourself.

Re: Sunshiney Saga
Took me a couple of months and about 2 adjustments before I saw anything happening. Hang in there!
And yep, the shyness will pass too, it sucks while it's hanging around though (((hugs)))

You're not lame... I'm doing the exact same thingSunshineRay wrote:I'm still semi hiding from people. I told my boss I was getting braces before I got them, but no one else knew. Only one person has commented and it was because she asked why I wasn't eating much at our team's BBQ lunch the other day. I explained that I just got braces and I'm still having trouble eating (especially anything like hot dogs and hamburgers without a knife and fork). She then proceeded to tell me about her experience as a teenager, when she gave up after a year in braces because it was too painful and she was getting constant headaches from them. Just what I needed to hear at that moment...
Otherwise, I'm still hiding my mouth, which is difficult considering I feel like these things stick out about 5 feet.

I'm sorry you know what I'm talking about but I'm glad you can relate. I only have 50 more weeks to avoid people! haha just kidding, kind of.

haha I'm sure there are plenty more people here that can relate. We're not alone. I figure I'll eventually be somewhat comfortable with them. Re: Sunshiney Saga
Yes, now is not the time. lol
I am going to have to be a little better at work with not avoiding people because I go on vacation in 2 weeks and have work to do (in the people area) before then. Its my goal for the week to be a little less insecure about them. Its kind of exhausting me and Im not going to be able to hide for the next year so I should just get it over with. Easier said then done.

It will happen, though. Little by little you will start to feel more confident until one day you'll wonder why you made such a fuss at all. That's what happened with me. Hang in there.

Re: Sunshiney Saga
My first adjustment is next Tue! I cant wait. I still feel like nothing is happening since I havent had any pain. Sunday night I got an app that lets you stack/side by side pics and I can see some slight changes when I do the pics that way. That was a little encouraging. Other then that I think I'm pretty used to them now. Still trying to venture out of my shell with people but thats baby steps.
