Braces again . . . after all these years

Well, yesterday was the big day and the braces are on. I decided that I should make the most of this journey and enjoy it so I have chosen lavender ligatures -- my daughter is so excited about that. The orthodontist is actually located at my daughter's pediatric dentist's office so I got to watch spongebob during the process. It wasn't too bad. I didn't think the lip spreader was all that bad and as long as I didn't touch my tongue to anything the taste was no terrible. I think the taste of all the goop used for a crown prep is much, much worse.
Last night everything was a bit sensitive -- just some pressure. The teeth that are more crooked were worse than the others. This morning nothing really hurts at all. I am more bothered by the feeling of the hardware in my mouth. The doctor told me that by Friday a few frozen margaritas might work nicely -- of course, followed by a good brushing.
Further to brushing, that whole ordeal was about 20 minutes with all the extra brushing and flossing.
The best thing of all is that I need to lose about 50 pounds of post-baby weight and since the spacers went in last week I have already lost 6 1/2 pounds. That's a nice start!!!
