Diary of Braced Bebeger!!

#1 Post by bebeger »

Hi all,

Finally, i started a new thread on my braces journey. Well, after 23 years of having crooked teeth, i finally make a decision. Hmm.. what shall i say about that? I must admit that i felt relieved ,anxious, excited and blah blah.

At first, i was quite hesistant to put them on as Im a lil self-conscious. I was thinking to myself " will i look weird if i were to dance in the club?" As you know, being 23, you can never sit still and always hit the clubs with all those sexy and sultry dance moves with your girlfriends. hahhaha!

On the other hand, heck that insecurity. i mean if i dont do braces now, i will be stuck to these teeth and will always have to close my mouth in photos! And of course, i wanna look great in wedding photos hahah!

I broke out my decision to my boyfriend and to my surprise, he support me as he used to have braces when he was young. He was saying " you dont need 1. it cost a lot. you know, i love you as you are. but well, if you really want it, i'll support that decision,"

phew. his support means a lot to me. That's all i need to know. After all, i only get to see him in person twice a year. (Ever since he go back to his country) And the rest of the days, we see each other on webcams. So , it definitely makes things easier.

The next day, i fixed an appointment with my dentist.

He recommended me Damon 2 braces as he felt it is stronger and its easier to maintain, with less problems of brackets falling off. I wasnt too keen as i prefer Damon 3 with the partial ceramic kind. But oh well.. i gotta follow my dentist's recommendations right? he knows the best.

So, i have one more day left. And tada!! on 26th March, i will be officially on braces, just like all of you!

Here is my ugly teeth photo.. :P

I will keep you all updated on my progress!!

wish me luck for my BIG day on monday!!

Best of luck with your brace day on Monday bebeger!
Your teeth look alright to start with, what sort of timeframe does your ortho think you'll be braced for?

Hope things go well for you.

Hmm... i 'll be down in the braces for 18 mths at most. The dentist said i have smaller arch at the bottom, so thats why the teeth are kinda cramp. I do not have any extractions as he said that extractions will make my jaw goes inward and i will look weird. Thats why he put me to damon 2.

Hopefully, my teeth can be fixed lesser than 18 months!!

Phew, I wonder how i look in damon 2. Very few people here in this forum have damon 2 so i cant really see any examples here...

Anyway, Thanks Sim for that encouraging words! :D :D

I know this may sound weird but if your good with Adobe Photoshop then all you have to do is take a close-up of your teeth and you can add on damon 2 braces to your teeth its time consuming but I've done things like changing the color of my braces to see what I would look like in other colors.

All in all goodluck with your treatment and looking forward to following your story.

hi Tim,

Looks like my first 2 replies are from people with -im at the back of their names!

Sim & Tim

hehhe!

hmm.. sounds like a good idea to do that but the problem is, i dont know how big is the bracket on my teeth.. in other words, hahha.. im not that good in photoshop. :P

Argh.. im envy of you as you can change the colour of your braces. well, mine.. its just plain metal. same ol' metal for the rest of 18 months.

It's not necessarily all silver for your mouth bebeger, :D
It depends how the treatment goes. I have damon 3s which of course don't use ligs. But for the past few months I've had powerchains and as you can see from my avatar, you can add a bit of colour to your braces while you wouldn't normally with damons. 8)

#8 Post by bebeger »

Hi all,

Im back and i think im being obsessed with my teeth. i have last few moments with my unbraced teeth and hahah.. i've been taking lots of shots of my ugly teeth before they are going for the BIG revamp.

On and off, i felt a lil emotional about getting my teeth done. it's like im about to change this teeth for good.. and most prob, i wont be able to see my old teeth anymore. hahha... silly me!

KK

Thanks a lot for that encouragement and the support! oh yeah, im gonna heed your advice closely. i've been rinsing my teeth with salt water these few days. i must say, it does make colgate toothpaste taste nicer when i brush my teeth after the rinse heheh!

Cawphee

Thanks Cawphee for that best wishes on my brace day. im sooo excited!! im really wonder how i look like! will i look like the silence of the lambs? hehhe... i will post up a pic tomorrow for sure!!

Siminsomniac

oh people, this is the inner photo of my top teeth. see how horrendous it is!!

im in pain!!

#9 Post by bebeger »

my goodness.. im in pain.

ultra sore from the braces. i cant even bite a raisin as my teeth will hurt really bad! is it normal?

ive taken some pics but oh well, my camera died on me now and i couldnt upload them now. i will definitely upload tomorrow once the battery charge up.

alright, now let me tell you about what i experienced during the last 2 days:

First Day

Not much pain and initially, i thought my dentist didnt pull the wires strong enough.

But later in the afternoon, my face got puffy and people thought i gained weight. argh.. i didnt eat a lot on the first day. For lunch, i drank instant campbell soup. and for dinner, i ate like few spoonfuls of rice porridge.

2nd day
Geesh. pain pain when i woke up. it was sore. the whole day was terrible. I felt the force and the pressure on my teeth. i think i saw some teeth moving.. hahah! I cant chew a raisin, prawn, vegetables and onion. What can i do with this pain???!! any remedy??

My bf was feeling terrible of not being there for me in person while i undergo thru this pain process. hahaha... he was like being apologetic on the webcam..and i felt comforted when he said he still love me despite having a robot gf. hahah.. ooh, i really need those words when i feel ugly, especially now, when im not really used to braces.

my goodness. my whole mouth is in pain now. argh!

oh poor gal...heard abt ur painful experiences and i guess have to try to stick to soupy diet for the moment...keep urself hydrated and i guess i fi were u, i will resort to painkillers (panadol) or those that dentist will give...

for me, guess i am lucky not to experience that..dunno if the wires are strong enuff to make my teeth move OR that only my upper teeth is braced? i also did see my front teeth moved on the very first day...alittle worried on the first adjustment though....esp after hearing ur exp...GURP*
my dentist put these bite plates(think this is wat it's called..) on my molars...so when i bite down, i will bite on the plates instead of my own teeth..dunno y also..just felt some tooth being sensitive/tender to touch so lucky for me, as at least my uppers and lowers will not touch each other when i chew..

guess have to try to learn how to consume food..more cereal and soupy porridge for the first week...guess the pain will b over soon...just bear with it and think of the beautiful teeth u will soon have! 8)

Hi Bebeger,

Congratulations for getting braced!

I can totally relate to that 'first few days' pain but it will go soon. Honestly.
I took pain killers regularly and the pain was nearly gone in a couple of days :D I've not had that pain since.
My line of thinking was that at least it's showing something is happening!

Hope you feel better soon.

I'm sorry you are experiencing so much pain, bebeger. It should subside after a few days. My ortho also built up ceramic posts on my molars in order to prevent my top teeth hitting my bottoms. The build-ups are very weird to start with, but I promise you that you will get used to them over time. KK is absolutely right - don't baby your teeth. Chewing REALLY helps the healing process, and I found that it also encouraged movement. I certainly can't chew completely normally, but I have found a system that allows me to eat most normal foods.

Hang in there!

Hi bebeger,

Nice to know there's a fellow country-woman posting story here as well.... I've also started my thread : " Rare sight: Overcrowded teeth on braces"

My teeth is, in my opinion, a real rare sight in every sense of the word... I've seen a few photos of members here and none comes close to mine...keke but I'm glad I'm finally getting some help for my teeth. :D

Will be keeping track on your progress .....all the best to u :)
