I have been lurking on the site for awhile waiting to see someone that has really high canines that overlap teeth, however I havent found any. I was hoping to see someone elses story so I can find out how long it takes those awful teeth to come down! Therefore I have decided to post mine. Lets see if I can figure out how to put on a picture...this is no myspace ;)

I guess I should keep a kournal, it might be easier than staring at my teeth every day :)

Hi and welcome to the boards.
Check out my braces story (in my signature) - I have one tooth that is right on top of all my others. Its my upper left lateral, not my canine but it does need to "come down".

What kind of brackets do you have?

Hi there! Looks like we're in the same situation! :)
I have braces since September 2007 and the main reason I wanted to have them is because my canines looked pretty much like yours - I had removable braces when I was younger, but almost no results (being removable, I took them off quite often and didn't wear them properly). So, in September I had 2 teeth removed - the first premolars, both right and left, and after all these months I am happy to report that my right canine has already moved, filling the space left by the premolar - I see it, and I feel it. However, I cannot say the same about the left canine, which has not moved too much.. or at least it's not visible yet.. and I'd say it will take a while until I see some changes.. :)
I have ceramic braces, and some additional wires (or some kind of elastics, I'm not sure) around these 2 canines, put there to speed up the movement.
I have braces only on my upper teeth, my ortho said we'd go on and fix the lower teeth as soon as the uppers come to a nice allignment. As to my lower teeth, they look exactly like kittymeow84's. I thought that was my photo posted there.. :D
Take care! :-1

HI!

Your teeth look like my friends when she was young. She had to wear braces one year or so. Unfortunately, because of not wearing retainer her teeth got crooked again. The canines did not back to their original positions, but they messed up the front teeth.

so retainer!!!

It was really strange, I had brackets (just brackets) put on October 11th, then I had to have 5!! Extractions, then a few weeks later a top wire and on Jan 7th I had the bottom wired.
Im not sure what kind I have, i really never asked :)

My ortho is great though and thinks 22 months, however im getting married July 26th and really hope to have a lot of movement before then!
I really think they have moved some since the 7th though! I will post more pics tonight.
Thanks for responding.
Also my bottom teeth are all crooked, so i hope to get them al straightened.

Coming along nicely. Wow, 5 extractions! Did you get them all at once? I'm not looking forward to extractions. Some are in my future! Eek!

My top teeth were like that when I was a child and like you I had extractions.

I bet you'll be surprised how quickly those canines slide back into the gaps. Your teeth are a nice shape and beautifully white, and I think they'll look fabulous afterwards.

Hi :-1

I bet you are really going to see some movement now that those canines are all wired up. I agree with others that you have lovely, nice shaped, white teeth and that they will look fantastic when you are finished.

I have also had my 2 upper premolars taken out recently and i will be having my two lower premolars out soon hopefully, it depends when my ortho wants to get started on my lowers.

Well good luck with your treatment and your upcoming wedding!

All the best

Hannah x

Thank you guys :)
I did have all 5 extractions at once, it was hard but im glad I did it that way. Sometimes if you know already exactlly whats to come and you dont like it, then its harder.
I dont think I could have handled it if they just took a few and I had to go back again for the other three.
I thought the strange thing about it all was that my DENTIST pulled them and I thought only Oral surgeons pulled teeth, also she just uses novacaine. Nothing else, i was wide awake, no gas, nothing! I was a little annoyed

Hehehe, most times, local is fine unless the tooth is impacted or something more complicated. Glad you survived :D
