Braced at 44's journal (2nd adj, wisdom tooth coming in!)

Got braced one week ago (uppers only for now due to my slight over bite).
My teeth are not really too crooked but my right canine did not erupt until I was 30 right after I had my son (weird huh, must have been the hormones). Had the baby tooth pulled but the canine now "sits back" due to crowding. I have a little crowding on the bottom too and some bite issues. I have some old composite fillings that have discolored so when the braces come off I will be getting a zoom whitening and veneers on my top teeth. Here is a pic of my "problem tooth", the bicuspid next to it will be extracted to make more room. To prepare for braces I had 3 molars extracted, 2 old crowns redone and 2 new crowns done on teeth that were almost all anglam fillings. I will also be getting one old crown in front replaced when the veneers are done.

Welcome to the club! I started out with just my upper teeth braced, too. Any idea how long it will be before you get them on the bottom? Or how long your "sentence" will be? You have quite the detailed treatment plan. It sounds like you know exactly what you need to do to get that perfect smile!

Thanks, I am not sure about the bottoms but I guess they will go on when my top arch is better and I won't bite the bottom brackets. I go for an adjustment on the 25 so we will see.

I was told that my treament will be 18-24 months

It looks like you are I are travelling together. My top arch went on July 29, 2008. I have only the top on for now too because of a cross bite (I know you've seen my pictures - thanks for your help). I have to have crowns put on my lower premolars before I can get the braces put on those but for some reason he choses not to do the crowns until later, maybe after the cross bite is fixed or after the spaces are created for my upper laterals.

I'd like to get implants but I heard they're very expensive and never covered by insurance. If not, I guess bonded bridges for me.

My dentist said he doesn't even know how long I'll have my braces on.

I see movement (pic added)

First adjustment today, they put in a new much thicker curved wire (to "pull" my front teeth out into the proper arch). It's hurts already!

Had my 2nd adjustment wed, my bite has opened up some but not enough to put my bottom brackets so the Dr. replaced the rectangular, curved wire with a new one that is even thicker yet. Also the wisdom tooth under one of molars they pulled is erupting! YAY! A brand new tooth at 44 (there's something you don't see every day).

UPDATE!

After months of a bite plane, springs, powerchains and wire ties my canine is finally where it is supposed to be!

Went for a adjustment today and got again another bite correcting reverse curve wire (ouch)! Should be getting my bottom braces in a month or two. Here is a pic
