It's hard to believe that my Power Prox 6 month braces story is coming to a speedy close
I absolutely have to post a picture of my teeth - the results are staggering! For the first time in my life I have beautifully straight teeth, yes you heard that right - I said straight teeth!!!! I'm so excited every time I look in the mirror and I just want to burst into tears.
I had my 6th adjustment today - the ortho is now just tweaking a few minor things and has told me these braces will be OFF at the end of January!!!!
I am going to have bonded retainers, then I will have him professionally whiten my teeth.
My journey has been much shorter than many of the stories I have read on here, but we are all getting the same result which is what is really important.
I will do my best to get a pic from today up as soon as possible.
Updated pics posted!!!

Okay - finally got some pics taken....
Here is day 8 in braces
Here is today - 5 months and a week later
I'm pretty excited about the results, although there are a few tweeking issues the Ortho is working on before these come off. Notice the elastic power chain on the 2 front teeth? I had a pretty big gap that he is closing - the gap was there when I walked into the office today, and by the time I was at the desk making my next appointment, it had already pretty much disappeared!!!
Please excuse the color of my teeth....it is the ONLY thing I hate about my teeth right now

Can't wait to have them shaped and whitened!!!
this next pic is a better one of my bottom teeth, the ortho has created some space between them which he will close at my next appt. everyone always talks about mid lines and I have no idea what that is? Is it the line between your top and bottom teeth?? if so - does mine look ok?
What do you think about the results in 5 months???

My teeth had pretty similar quick movement within the first few months. So I know how exciting it is! I am wondering if there is any particular reason why you are only having braces on for 6 months. Does the ortho feel your teeth are ready for debracing? Or do you have a deadline you need to reach? It may just be my eyes, but to me it looks like your occlusion may be a bit off, as it appears your bottom teeth are wider than your top teeth. Or are my eyes playing tricks on me? Do you feel comfortable when you bite your teeth together?

My braces are the Power Prox 6 month braces technique. What this really means is that I am "straightening" the top 6 and bottom 6, so it is cosmetic rather than orthodontic. Having said that, the braces treatment has helped my cross bite - but not fixed it.
I never had an issue with my bite, even before braces. Even though my bite was "off" it never affected me when I bit down. My teeth may have been misaligned, but it never bothered me. Now that the crossbite has been fixed somewhat, my bite may feel a bit more comfortable, but no significant difference....if that makes sense?
The goal of the 6 month braces technique is tp straighten the teeth, not fix orthodontic issues. If I wanted those fixed, I can guarantee these things would be on for at least 2-3 years!!!!!
I decided to do it this way because MY goal was straight front teeth in the shortest amount of time possible - and I got them! Originally I hadn't even planned on bottom braces, but the Ortho highly suggested it, and I went for it as you can see.
He is still working on tweeking, so I will be sure and post a pic after my next adjustment on January 7th, which incidentally will be my LAST adjustment before debracing!!!!! YAY!!!!!!

Your midline is the imaginary line down the center of your face, and includes how your upper and lower teeth line up. Based entirely on your teeth, your midline is right on
I was originally intending to just straighten my teeth, but even if I just do that I'm 2 years in braces, so I'm looking into fixing my jaw problems too, as it's not going to add any time onto my projected end date.

Congrats on your debanding date, ckrobyn!
My next adjustment is on the same day. Hopefully mine will be a productive one...but not as good as yours will be

Thanks Jenny
I am pretty excited! I will definitely post new pics as soon as I am debanded.
When I started all of this last summer, my main goal was just to straighten my 2 front teeth and get rid of the overlap which I have hated for most of my life. I didn't really care about my lowers, and didn't even want to brace my lowers at all! I can now say that I am thrilled to have done both upper and lowers......and that in 12 sleeps I will get these things off!
