Those of you who got your braces off can you fill me in on how it feels when you get your braces off? Do your lips or mouth area not looked so puffed out? Is it slimey? Does it Hurt? I heard it does at least when they are trying to take the brackets out of the back molars.

Doesn't really hurt. For me it was a quick process. Ortho fumbled around in my mouth for a few minutes and the next thing I knew they all came out attached to the arch wire, like a sting of pearls. The brackets..not my teeth. And ya, it feels a bit too smooth (slimy) until your mouth gets use to them missing. It's a fun experience after a long journey...wooo - relief!! Then your tongue will spend the next few days exploring, similar to when you got the braces on only it won't get shredded.

I had to get my brackets repositioned on the bottom and when they took them off I thought my teeth had enlarged! It was quite a shock. I understand alot of people feel that their teeth look bigger. I guess its cuz they've been covered by the brackets so long.
By the way, taking the metal brackets off was no big deal, no pain of any kind.

Hi,
I had a metal bracket repositioned on my second premolar a few adjustments ago. I did not even know they took the bracket off until I saw they were holding with the instrument they were using.

I got my braces off a week ago. The thing I noticed most is that they didn't look at all like I remembered. To me, they are fantastic. And BIG. WHOOEEEE...BIG!!
By the time you get to the process of getting them off, you won't care about all the stuff they do--which is all very exciting! I will be blogging about the experience on my blog "OK, this was not the plan" in a few days. I just got back from a trip, so it will probably be a day or two before I have time to go thru the debanding process that I experienced.
I am thrilled with my results!!
Good luck!
