Im so glad I found this website, I am naturally curious and worried about whether or not what Im going through is normal.
For as long as I could remember I have always wanted braces. With good reason my teeth weren’t straight, because of it I refused to show my teeth when I smiled in a lot of situations and on numerous occasions it had refrained me from meeting new people and doing new things. My parents only got as close as the orthodontic consult when I was in jr high, but the Dr. scared them off when he informed them of how much it would cost. I don’t blame them though... it is pretty pricey.
So now here I am, 28 yrs old. And I did it!!! enough was enough. My boyfriend thought I was out of my mind to get braces at this age, he thinks I look beautiful. (I don’t think he’s realized I didn’t like smiling in any of our pictures together)
Because my parents never took me to the dentist I had naturally to go through a HUGE process before I got them on. My teeth had to be cleaned, than I learned they needed to be scaled. Than all my wisdom teeth had to be removed. Went bak to the dentist who said I had my first cavity which had to be filled, than went to the orthodontist who said I need to have my 4 premolars pulled oh my!!! So much running back and forth and to and fro appointments.
I finally got them on!!!! The process didn’t hurt at all, and to be honest from the day they went on to now I haven’t been in very much pain at all, I have been able to eat as long as it was cut up small so I don’t know what I was soooo scared about! LOL maybe Im one of the lucky ones or I spoke to soon. Hahaha.
oh and my 2nd day in braces my boyfriend of 2 years had proposed to me!! And I accepted! I am sooo thrilled to have straight teeth for our wedding day in the near future.
I included my pics before braces and my 4th day in. My initial evaluation stated I had a deep over jet, upper and lower crowding, upper and lower teeth tipped outward, small upper jaw frame, estimated 24 months in braces. I went with metal brackets. At the time I didn’t care what olor they were as long as they were on. ) and happy to report I <3 them!
