Saw this site in Google, so i thought id post my story!!

So in July 2008, I went for a normal Dental Check-up and my Dentist asked if ive had Orthodontic treatment, which ive never had. He told me I would need to follow it up myself as I’d be 18 within 2 months. He told me id have trouble with my teeth if and said I should go. So worried I put my name on the UK NHS list in hope I’d get an appointment, I was told by my dentist his list was 2years. Then days later I got a phone call from an Orthodontic place saying they saw my age and asked for me to come in that week days after my Dentist said a 2year wait. I went and they measured my teeth and said I was in the range to get free NHS treatment if I started that day. If I started weeks later id be too old. So I got home and then a phone call asking me to go to Hospital for an X-Ray. It all happened so so fast. By September, I had my Moulds done – I didn’t like it, it tasted like plasticine and I was wriggling in the chair trying not to be sick as it slid down the back of my mouth. Then he added 4 blue bands in-between my teeth, this was my second appointment. Third came a week after my birthday in October, the braces are ready so he began with putting metal rings around my second molars top and bottoms, they were glued all over the tooth. They also had hooks on. Then he put glue all over the fronts of my teeth and added the brackets. Then the wire with silver bands around the brackets to make it stay. It was all fast and my mouth felt 10x bigger as id had it open for ages. It felt weird but after a week it all settled. Food was tough I lives of Tinned Spaghetti hoops for a while and Ice-Cream was a saviour really helped. So began my 2year treatment. I had appointments every 4/5 weeks when he’d change my wires and silver bands. In may 2009, 8months into my treatment I got a new type of band ‘Power Band’ on my top set. Which is like one band with holes in. I then had a gap in my appointments until July 2009 which was a nice break. The Power Band was one of the worst parts of the treatment as it was so tight but noting a Starbucks Frap could fix. Ice Cold drinks were my saviour this time around. In July 2009 I took to my appointment to find that my Teeth have finished, just a minor tweek on the molars as they have moved as I was fortunate to have a very kind orthodontist who knew of my fear of dentists and didn’t take any teeth out. So its been a tight squeeze. I will get my braces of in August 2009 10months into what was to be a 2year brace. Im so happy now I can look 18 not 12 and see in my 19th with lovely teeth!

I will post a before and after shot next month – I cant wait!!

so had the braces off a week today, no retainer yet and i know my teeth have moved already.

getting them off was easy, my orthodontist used the plyers to pull up the hook brackets which went around the whole tooth of my second molars then pulled the brackets off with bands and wire still attached it was real easy took seconds couldnt feel it.
Then came the drill, i hate dentists so i was freaked out with the noise and the heat on the teeth when he was adding pressure to get the glue off that was the worst of the braces i think.
Then got re-moulded for my retainer which i struggled with as the mould spread and hits my gag reflexes haha.

Then i finally got to see my teeth 15mins later and i was sssooo shocked, they were perfect and white no marks like people i know of. They said i was good at brushing as my teeth were so clean and white.

i will get my retainer a week today!!! The retainer will also pull in teeth which the braces were working on.

heres my results so far

i have my Retainers now, they are Invisalign as they are moving teeth aswell.

At first it was Love Hate with them, well just hate. They Second they were put in they were deffinatly painfull, more than a tightning as it was all pressure at once as i had a 2 week break from wearing a brace while they were made.

Now 2 weeks after ive had them, the bottoms are fine, not tight, easy to get out, sometimes they hurt, the tops are still tight but tight is good.

Im getting used to them now, at first i didnt like it, my gag reflexes were on fire ha. But they are getting better, Brushing my teeth and taking them out everytime i eat is a chore but im pulling through, its stopping me snacking which is a good thing.

My next appointment in November, im hoping ill only need to wear them at night instead of 24/7.
