Emms journey begins!!

#1 Post by Emms »

Hi everyone,

I posted under "Nervous & Excited" about a week ago so I thought it was time now to start my own story. I'm 35 years of age, mom to 3 kiddos and I am due to get braces next Tues October 6th. This morning I got 2 bicuspids extracted at 9am, I am now eating Jello:( Was wondering could I have a cup of tea?? I need one!!

So my journey begins, today I thought of as step 1, step 2 will be next Tuesday.

I will post pictures along the way. Looking forward to reading everyone's stories on here, I love the way we are all going through the same thing.

Bye for now

Hi Emms,

You're supposed to avoid hot things for the first 24 hours after extraction so maybe the tea will have to wait until the morning.

I love tea also (cos I'm English it's the law)

Good luck for your brace day!

Two Bicuspids?

#6 Post by HeyBuckey! »

Congratulations!!! :-)o No kids for me now but I am getting 2 bicuspids removed hopefully sometime in November :). <---Excited I can relate. I am concerned (not to the point of anxiety) about if I can go to work the next day after I get them pulled. Were the teeth you got pulled upper or lower?

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Feeling much better tonight, stayed away from my cup of tea, will make up for it tomorrow. The bleeding stopped after about 4 hours so I removed the gauze I was applying every 30mins and tried to eat dinner tonight, just ate some rice but it kept on wanting to go and get stuck in my extraction sites

HeyBuckey - My bicuspids were my upper ones, both of them. I reckon you will be able to go to work the following day, I feel 100% better now and it's not even 24 hours!!! You'll be fine :)

Ok I must go to bed, I will get some pics up tomorrow, I can show off my bloody extraction sites (not a pretty sight)

Bye for now

PS: nessness & Ladybird - I'm Irish so like you english girls we love our cuppa :)

Two Bicuspids?

What a relief! I just can't stand to use my vacation time for torture .

I'm very glad you are feeling better! I'm getting my uppers done as well. I like to drink tea to but I've recently stopped since I have to heat up water in the microwave at my job. I can be really lazy at times. I'll just stick with drinking water for now :). Thanks for the info!!!

This is one of my extraction sites, the other one turned out really blurry!!! Felt kind of sick this morning and had a horrible taste in my mouth but I soon remedied that by having my cup of tea, ah it was so good :D
As you can see I have a big gap that needs closing now between these teeth. My canines better move back, that is the plan anyhow. I wonder how long it will take?!

Sorry for the pic being so small. I'm still working on uploading images. I spent years hiding my teeth now the camera is on the them the whole time :)

Bye for now

I remember the days leading up to getting my braces and my stomach was in knots too. I had such mixed emotions about it all. The actual appointment wasn't that bad, but it is the point of no returna dn the start of a long journey. As I am sure you know by now, the beginning is the toughest part and we are all here to support you through it. A week from now, you'll be a seasoned veteran.

good luck for tomorrow! The best thing to remember is that it does get better, every emotion & feeling, i promise you by day 4 you will have forgotten they are there!
& remember what you're in this for, after its all over you'll be so proud that you did it, & that feeling is soo going to be worth having all this metal in our mouths!
Lower Braces = 22nd June 09 - 2nd Sept 10 (14 months, 1 week & 4 days)
Upper braces = 10th August 09 - 2nd Sept 10 (12 months, 3 weeks & 2 days)

Good luck for tomorrow Emms,

I think the point of no return was the extractions for me so you've done the hard part.

Just sit in the chair, relax, open your mouth and think of Ireland

Honestly the appointment isn't bad and you'll get used to having them on.
The sooner they're on the sooner you'll have gorgeous new teeth :D

Be sure to take pictures as they help so much to see movement and to stay motivated

You'll be just fine :D
