Hi! I have been looking at this site from time to time, but have never had the courage to post! that..and i figured out how to post a picture..
here is a before and current (have had the top for 10 months, and the bottom for 8 months). let me know if anyone has any comments or suggestions!
I am really liking how my crossbite is looking. I saw about 5 orthodontist before picking the one I have now, I am thinking I made a good choice? The crossbite was/is a big issue with my bite. I have seen a couple oral surgeons as well.
My bite is open because I have bite blocks on the back teeth.

When they first placed them, they said 24 to 36 months!!! yikes! but ive been thinking..24 months..24 months..lol Everytime I go for my adjustment the orthodontist always says " i cant believe how much room we are getting in your mouth" I think she means the crossbite?? When I first went in to see a few ortho's they all told me, including the one I have now, that i would need to have 4 teeth pulled (2 on top and 2 on the bottom). i said no thank you (i wanted to see what happened with just the braces first)..this orthodontist said they would evaluate me after 12 months for teeth pulling. Now it looks like I wont have to!!! All the ortho's said that the teeth were so crowded in the front top that when they moved straight they would buck out really bad..but its like almost a perfect bite in the front!!! My ortho is amazed!! The oral surgeon was the only one that said MAYBE..and it was a big maybe that the teeth would move back instead of forward, and they did!
I have had power chains on both top and bottom, link ties on almost all of the top teeth and bottom. I have been wearing the rubber bands on the right hand side(the side with the BAD crossbite) for about 6 months, and the left for about 4 months. i had small bands first, this last time I went in she switched me to huge ones! I have gotten used to them though, I have to wear them all day everyday (except when i eat) I told the orthodontist im serious about getting them straight and ill do anything lol. I go in for my next adjustment tomorrow! so wish me luck!! I will try and post another picture.
Thanks for your comments!!!
p.s. does anyone know how to change the heading of my post? It says "sarah" and i wanna change it to say something else like "sarah's story" or something

Side view about one month into braces:
The teeth bucked out alot due to the two front teeth almost meeting like a tent, you see my really bad crossbite if you look
Side view about 9 months into braces:
almost perfect! no teeth pulled!!!
Bottom arch first day in braces:
Scary huh!!!
Bottom arch about 6 months into braces:
Upper Arch about a month into braces:
Upper Arch about 9 months into braces:
My progress almost makes me cry, ive always had really messed up teeth and they are looking so good..at least i think so? i still look in the mirror and think of the old mouth, i still dont view myself with straight teeth! weird huh?
Oh ya, keep in mind i do have bite blocks on the very back upper teeth so I have a slight looking open bite but its not really an open bite. I also had my two front teeth shaved down as well and shavings between my two front teeth to help with the slight "triangle' that's formed.
lemme know what anyone thinks?? or any suggestions anyone has, my orthodontist is awesome and listens to my concerns or what I want done, if anyone sees anything that might need done lemme know!!

Went back to the ortho for another adjustment on wed. The ortho said my teeth are doing amazing. I got the bite blocks completely out! yay!, i am a little frustrated on the open bite I see one side of my mouth, the ortho said shes not considered with it and that once my bite evens out on the crossbite in the back she thinks it will even out. what do you guys think? is it as noticeable as I think it is? has anyone else had this problem? As you can see from the pictures they tied more link ties on the upper front of my mouth.(the metal ties through the front 4) The bottom has another power chain, bigger this time. My next appointment isnt until the end of January!! my ortho is pregnant and will not be there for it!!! another ortho is! a little nervous about that! She said the next time I come in they are removing the back brackets on the upper back teeth one the "6's" and adjusting them and bracing it on the back "7"'s (i havent had any brackets on my back upper 7s yet because my teeth were so bad to start and they couldnt get them in) to help widen the arch on the top, she is confident she can fix the cross bite!! we will see!! any comments or suggestions are welcome!!
Front smile:
If you look you can see the wire link tie around the front 4 teeth tied around the number 2 tooth on the right.
Crossbite side view
(no overbite!! amazing!!)(ortho is amazed at this cus it was so big before braced - see previous posted picture, she said it due to my diligent rubber band use, i wear them as often as i can day and nite , only take them out to eat)
WEAR YOUR RUBBER BANDS FOLKS!!! ITS WORTH IT!!!!
Lower arch, 4 months in power chain
upper arch
The open bite on one side..wierd..its on the side with the bad cross bite, any suggestions? has anyone else had this problem? what did your ortho do?
Thanks for reading my post!!
Any comments or suggestions are welcome!!

I think your bite will even out once the crossbite is fixed. As for the open bite in one side, it is not really noticeable. I have the same thing happening to me, and for months, and mine still pretty bad (I need to update my story) I have a crossbite as well and my progress has been very slow. Your teeth are looking great whiskers
How long will you be braced?
