Talisman's story

Ok, thought i should document my progress with lingual braces (Incognito's as they're called here in the UK)

I'm 28, male, and have wanted to have braces for years. I never got them when i was a kid, as they're not cheap and to get them on the NHS (free health care system over here in the UK) you have to have a serious problem, which i didn't.

So i opted for incognito's which go behind the teeth, and have had them on for over a month now. Had them fitted at the end of October, and they did give me a huge lisp, which i've just about got over now. I still lisp when drunk/tried or have a dry mouth.

Here are my before pics, and pics as of now. The now pics, i think, look worse! My midline has shifted off centre (haha!) and the teeth seem to be moving all over the place. But i guess its all part of the process.

Ouch... my teeth starting hurting today, very randomly.

That can only be a good sign. And it's only a few days away from my first adjustment. Is it normal for teeth to be moving and sore on and off, all the way up to the adjustment appointment?

I had my first adjustment today.

It was quite painful. I'm double banded on the bottom (whatever that means) and have rectangular wires on the top.

I'm already in pain, so i reckon the next few days are going to be liquid only for me!

I've also noticed, my bite has become quite open. All part of the process i guess!

It's totally normal for your teeth to hurt/feel pressure on and off between adjustments (at least for me)

Good luck on your liquids haha! I just had a very painful adjustment yesterday, so I'll be on liquids for a bit too.

Just thought i should post some pictures to keep a record of progress.

It's been around 3 months for the upper lingual brace and just over 2 months for the lower one.

I have my 2nd adjustment in a couple of weeks!
