well... i forgot to post my pics but I will have to figure out how to get my pics here in time... one thing i have noticed is that eating is a messy messy affair.. lol.. i have already concluded that i will lose a few lbs (which i shouldnt be doing) because i probably wont eat much lol... after eating and brushing all the stuff stuck in my teeth.. i feel almost afraid to eat again lol... so people there's a new diet Get-Braces-and-Starve lol... and oddly the more i think about food, the more i want to eat something and the more i think about having to brush my teeth for like 30 mins and the less inclined i am to eat... lol..

one thin i have noticed is that the corners of my mouth hurt.. not sure why.. and my teeth feel "nervy".. you know like when u drink something hot then drink something cold how you feel the nerves in your teeth... well thats all for tonite..

well..today was a moment.. i went to work.. and towards the afternoon my mouth felt like my teeth were being yanked up from the roots up.. i was like oh my gawddddd... this is getting to me.. then i happened to touch my top row.. the ones that have no archwire.. and they felt well like my teeth cos they have brackets but arent really being moved i guess.. well my bottom row of teeth are now someone elses.. because touching them felt so alien.. like i could sense the nerves and everything.. and of course eating today was a pain.. i bought some mashed potatoes from across the street from my job.. ICK.. they were gross.. the gravy was brown like mud but when they went down smoothly (didnt taste as bad as i thought after i scooped out the gravy lol) i was happy to be able to get something in my stomach.. i then proceeded to eat a piece of apple pie and then realized the constant brushing my teeth and paranoia that there is something stuck in there is hilarious lol....

umm what else.. well i'm attempting to eat mac and cheese.. my comfort food.. lol.. not much comfort TODAY lol.. all i'm thinking is why oh why did i eat this.. i have pasta and cheese everywhere.. who the hell came up with whole wheat pasta anyway?? lol... but i cringe thinking about havin my extraction then the wires on the top put on and havin top and bottom being pulled at the same time lol..

i swear my teeth have moved but thats probably my imagination.. is it? :D

During my 'soft food' phase, I ate a lot of oatmeal, soups, mashed up potato salad, mashed potatos, you can also put food into a chopper to make it minced up fine to eat it. It doesn't change the taste, just the texture a bit.

thank you jensniffer :D .. i was beginning to get discouraged... i found some kinda hostess apple pie yesterday in the bodega (corner store for those of u who aren't in NY.. parlor/tuckshop for those of u in the uk) and i went back today and there are NONE.. i am afraid to eat bread based on what i read on here so far.. and i love bread :( it makes up like 80% of my diet.. the other 20 is cheese.. they alternate though lol).... i am a little apprehensive about these tightenings.. i'm in my earlier thirties and my youngest sibling is 21 and she still has her braces on from when she was 16 (i think she wasnt following the program or whatever) so that's one person i know who can share my pain lol...

this is kinda new, kinda exciting, kinda scary and kinda depressing all at the same time.. i'm like damn.. i'm gonna be with these things for two years.. hopefully i close the gaps caused by extractions.... i have the vague feeling like my teeth have rocks superglued to them.. i cant shake it.. nor can i stop my tongue from "gently caressing" one of my back upper teeth or upper back teeth. (sorry i dont know any dentistry terminology except my canines)... i have a very weird feeling when my bottom and top teeth touch sometimes.. like a seriously irritating sensitivity..

Hi lady!

Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to change your name. Since you just started, maybe you could ask the administrator, Lynn, to delete this account and start a new one?

I was going to suggest trying some pasta, but I see you've already tried Mac n cheese, with little success. Grilled cheese was the same way, for me. SO MESSY! Don't give up.. It will get easier, I promise. Your bite is probably off, and will get worse when you get your upper wire put in. Maybe some soggy toast? After a couple of weeks I tried a McDonald's burger, and it was the best burger I ever tasted! Try to get back to eating as normally as possible, and don't baby your teeth too much. The quicker you get back to eating normally, the better.

You have really nice, white teeth! And I love the blue ligs. :D

hey huggypillow and catgyrl.. thanks for the welcome...

well my ligaments are not blue at all lol.. they're actually silver (i read someone on here's blog and i remember no light colors.. curry.. and i eat a lot of curry lol)... i'm trying to eat normally.. the constant brushing is getting to me lol. i mean i always have a toothbrush in my purse at all times (ms prepared) lol.. but i use it every so often when tuna has gotten on the menu or onions have overpowered me lol... but with these braces i am paranoid and brush my teeth several times a day lol.. and i cringe at the thought of having to do battle with spinach...

catgyrl thank you for the compliment on the whiteness of my teeth lol.. that reminded me of something i found out one time at my job... i was talkin to a coworker one time and she was telling me that the entire floor above me, nobody knew my name but often saw me walkin around when i had stuff to do on that floor and they all apparently called me "the girl with the white teeth' LOL>. :-* and everybody would know EXACTLY who they were referring to when they said that. when i found out i was like  what? lol... it was just hilarious when i went up there the day after.. and kept my mouth closed the entire time lol..

i do wonder why they appear so white.. maybe its all the cheese and milk and all that dairy i eat.. my doctor told me one time. "you will never have a vitamin D deficiency.. EVER" 8)

this heat wave is killing me.. i plan to wear a sundress to work but now i feel like i will have to put on that sunscreen in abundance.. i hope my teeth dont ache going from the hot sun to the cold blasting a/c.. my office acts like we are in antartica! lol

well i went to a restaurant today and lol.. i ate mashed potatoes, candied yams and mac and cheese lol.. i wasnt taking any chances eating anything hard.. i didnt even realize i hadnt removed the wax.. i didnt have to worry cos i only ate on the other side of my mouth anyway.. gingerly like old ladies eating peanuts.. lol... but i was with a good friend so i wasnt too self concious or worried.. i ate and didnt feel the need to brush my teeth like a maniac.. cos i discretely swished my mouth with my drink :-* hilarious... lol.. but it was funny...

omg.. can anybody tell me why i feel like i want to rip my braces off??? my top lip touching the braces is irritating me to the highest level.. i feel like i either want my mouth closed where i cannot feel the teeth touching the inside of my lip :| .. or that i want to have my face contorted in a bizarre grimace  so that my lips are not on my teeth at ALL.. arrrrrrrrrrrrgh  this is soooooooooooo irritating..

i also realize that i cant seem to really eat with my front teeth at all.. i feel as if i bite into anything.. that they will break off and be left standing in my chicken or whatever, a testament to my new nickname WeakTeeth. lol.. let me stop rambling.. it is sooooooooooo hot outside

Hello Lady!

I wanted to welcome you to the community and say I hope you are staying encouraged on your journey.

I did want to comment on the irritation issue...are you using wax? I know I used a lot especially before bed for the first week or so, but after that it gets much less irritating and before you know it, you'll totally be used to it.

And a note on eating, get used to chewing with your molars. It's a lot less messy and saves you from cleaning too much out of the front of your braces, you'll mostly just have to brush and floss after eating. I honestly don't brush after I eat every time anymore. Especially when I'm at home, I just use the Waterpik.

Just wanted to welcome you and wish you the best, keep us update!
