29 just got braces today! 11/12/11

I guess I should have got them yesterday since many people think 11/11/11 is good luck. Owell no turning back now! I went in at 11:00 got out at 2:00. Got clear brackets on top and bottom. The worse part was my mouth being open SO long!! I felt like I was chokeing and could not swallow. My bottom teeth are really close together so it took forever putting the little bands on. My bottom teeth seem to hurt more. No turning back now! What surprises me the most is how hard it is just to close my mouth. I am sure I will get used to it. for now advil is my best friend I am sure tomorrow will be much worse! I am still wondering if I made the right choice to get them!

Of course it was definatly the right choice. I mean I have self ligating /self tightning braces that KILL and make me cry and it hurts a lot at some times but I definately don't regret it I am soooooo glad I was able get the braces because jsut think to yourself "Everytime this hurts, just think of the AMAZING teeth to come " I went int at 10:15ishAM and got out at about 12noonish. You'll be fine we all think its a bad descicion once it starts hurting but in the end it is definatly worth it nad I wish the best of luck to you in your treatment

Thanks for the encouragement. surprising today is much better. I thought it might be worse today but I was even able to eat some solid food. I started using wax on the back two molars. I also noticed I am getting two blisters on my checks. After the spacers my teeth were so sore for about 5 days but the braces don't seem that bad. I even used my sonic tooth brush tonight! FYI don't use your sonic brush the first day you get your braces on. I thought I was going to pass out from the pain last night. Feeling better about my choice today !

Good for you, getting them on before the big 3-0 It will all be worth it in the end when you can be proud of your smile Hope all goes well and there were no gum complications or extractions needed.

Do they sell wax by the case??? I am going to need a lot of it! The brackets on my back molars have tore up my cheeks. The metal ones that are all the way around my teeth are getting better they were the worst. My teeth are not as sore today. I ate some chili today and it was the first time that I experienced food in my braces. I could not believe all the food that came out. Which brings me to my next point flossing. It is SO hard and hurts. Hopefully that will get better with time too. On a funny note my little yorkie, Daisy, keeps trying to sniff my mouth. So weird guess she knows something has changed. My boss did not notice that I had gotten braces. One of my co- workers had to tell him. I guess most people really don't pay attention that much. I just wish I could take them off give my teeth a good brushing and eat a hamburger.

The ortho usually has a million cases, my ortho gave me a few. You could probably drop by their office just to pick from up and the receptionist should give it to you. You can old buy it at CVS and Rite Aid and Walgreens for pretty cheap. Glad your teeth and cheeks are feeling a bit better. I LOVE chili mmm its sooo good I could go for some right now at 5am. Yeah flossing is definately a pain that's for sure but you have to floss I mean would you want your teeth to look like: http://www.myorthooptions.com/braces101.htm Just scroll down, I think that thing scared me into flossing alright. I'm only two months going on three with my braces and I've gotten soo used to flossing that I can just feed regular floss under the wire without using the floss threaders OR superfloss. LOL awh too cute. That's cool and yeah people don't really notice because its such a natural thing to get braces and everyone gets them. My supervisors and everyone knew the day I got mine LOL it was soooo ahrd to talk and I couldnt talk right But they were cool with it letting me take an extra 2-5 minutes on my break to brushing my choppers after eating. Oh, I've tried eating a hamburger from the first day to now and it's literally impossible. By the way, when the orthodontist appointment rolls around ask if you can get up to floss and brush where under the wire would be with your toothbrush and toothpaste you brought. They whould let you. Also you're supposed to go for dental cleanings every 6 months and they take out the wire and clean you up nice and good. Hope that helped,

GROSS!! Those picture of people who did not floss or take care of their teeth. I tried the oral b floss for braces but my teeth are too close together I can't get that floss through I used the tread thing with my normal floss. Is anyone else afraid that when flossing you will pull the wire out?? I will ask the dentist if I can floss when they have the wire off thanks or the advice!! Another subject I have a bracket that I can now move around. It is one on a crown that I had. I figure that they might be harder to get the brackets to stay on. I called the lady on the phone said it was not a big deal. My next appointment is not till 12 weeks. So I told her I wanted to come back in tomorrow to get it taken of. So 2nd appointment 5 days after getting the braces!

I dont mean to hitch-hick but even I have the same problem with flossing.. I can get the thread in.. my teeth are very misaligned and without braces itself, I would spend a long time flossing and now with them its impossible.. I try everytime but the floss gets stuck between my teeth and bracket... I used a toothpick to clean and a waterpik... I dont know whether thats enough...

Lamis, that already happened to me and it was soo embarassing because I couldnt get the wire to go back in. And it bent outwareds in the front. I had work the next day too. So I called the office and it paged her and she called me back and walked me through it on a friday night. But I was flossing when that happened She was really nice to me and talked me thru it.

I think when i first got my braces on my brackets kept popping off of two teeth of have crowns on....but they have been holding steady for about 5 months now *crosses fingers*

I think the water pick does wonders with getting food from between your teeth. As far as flossing my Ortho gave me some type of floss where I had to loop my floss thread through this thing and pull the thread through

THAT WAS WAY TO TIME CONSUMING FOR ME...lol....so I went and bout the floss that is thicker on one end of it...works MUCH better

I guess I might try the water pic Don't want to pop a wire off. Glad to here your brackets are staying on your crowns gives me hope! I went to the ortho today to get it fixed. She just clipped it off and removed it. She said it was on my molars and it could come off till my first adjustment and bracket replacement. I have one tooth in the front that is turned and she said it had already turned a little. She put some wire around the bracket and o-my I could feel the pressure. Also learned I will be getting my rapid palette expander th first week of December. I am not going to lie I am so afraid of getting that thing!!

I broke another bracket off yesterday. Had to clip it with toenail clippers the fingernail clippers would not cut it. I am getting used to the braces more but still sucks to eat. My front teeth are still really sore. I am just glad I am feeling better so I can eat some turkey!!

ive had tocut a wire before as well. You're right those clippers don't work I used a pair of craft scissors. Havnt broke a bracket tho just poped a wire.

Has anyone ate the wax by accident?? I sure have just wondering how bad that is.
