My braces Journey

#1 Post by khaymie78 »

Hi all, I'm glad I found this forum! I can now keep up with my braces journey and have something to look back on in 2 (hopefully sooner) years.

First off, name is Lynn, and I am 33. I have been needing braces for quite sometime now. When I was younger, up until 22 ( ) I sucked my index finger. So, my bottom teeth were protuding (sp), and had MAJOR gaps. I have a underbite, that I may need to have jaw surgery to fix after my braces treatment, but my ortho says he will do his best to correct it without surgery.
I 've been having my braces on since August 6th 2012, and I had my first adjustment on September 5th. My treatment time is estimated to be 18 -24 months.

I look forward to documenting my journey and meeting new friends who are going through the same thing.
I will post pics soon.

Hi Lynn and Welcome to the board!
This board is wonderful with great information and having people to talk to who understand what you are going through. I look forward to following you on your journey. Do you have ceramic or metal braces? This is a wonderful place to also document your journey. I have had mine on for about two months and I look back and see so much progress.

Hi Nicurn85!! Thanks for following! I have the metal braces. Even in the short period of time that I have had mine, I have seen a BIG difference!! I have my second adjustment on Oct. 10th.

I had my first adjustment on Sept. 6th, and all they did was change my bands. So hopefully, on my next adustment, which is Oct. 10th., I will get new wires also.
I don't have a starting pic, from before I got braces put on, because I was too embarrassed to take a photo. But, I do have some pics that I will post in when I get home.
Is there an app for this forum that will make posting pics easier from my cell phone?

No apps as far as I know. I hope your next appointment goes smoothly. Don't be disappointed if you don't get new wires on your next visit. The skinny bendy wire that we start with is the best at rotating your teeth straight so if all they do is put new ligs on it will still be working hard on those wonky teeth. It was six months before I got a new wire on my lowers. :)

The next few are within the last month. Since I will be documenting my journey, I will take better pics.
When I first got them on, I got gray ligs. On my first adjustment, I got black.

Yes, I can definitely see changes! :-* . Before I got braces put on when I smile, you couldn't even see the bottom teeth because they protruded so much. Now you can at least see that I have bottom teeth when I smile.
