  Went to ortho today. I was suppose to get final wire on top and bottom. I was so excited, only to get depressed because she didn't put the final wires on. She said she wanted to put an angulation wire on the top to correct the angulation. Then she went to put the final wire on the bottom and said, well it seems like we are just rushing it. Then put the same wire on the bottom and told me to come back in 8 weeks. Really 8 weeks. I don't wanna wait 8 weeks to get the final wires. I am so tired of having the flare on my teeth. I feel like I have horse teeth and like we can't start really moving forward until the final wires are on. Has anyone else went ready to get final wires and got a set back.

You may well be frustrated about not having your final wires done yet, I know I'm frustrated about having to keep my braces on longer than expected but there's no need to stress about it because it won't fix your teeth any quicker. Just think it'll be worth your mouth being sorted out in the end.

I now have final wires on the top and the bottom. I have a anticipating that mine will be on longer than ortho planned. I sure hope when treatment is final that my teeth looked better than they did before. I am a worrier. lol. I am suppose to have them for two years and that will be Oct. 10, 2013. It sure seems like I have a lot more change that needs to take place. :-*

I've learned it is more about what the wires are doing than the timeframe in them. It could be that you won't need your finishing wire long and may still meet your original estimate.

I had a 24 month estimate too. The shortest time I had a wire before a change was a week. Other times it was a few months. I had a lower initial one for 7 months. I thin moved through the next 2 levels within 2 months. I've actually been in my upper 'finishing' wire since last August. I've certainly learned that the teeth will move as they want to and i need the patience to let them decide how they want to pace themselves. Some just move faster than others.

Here's to hoping you are still able to meet your October goal.
