Alicia's story with pics

#1 Post by alicia123 »

I just got my braces on yesterday. They are really sore now. It even hurts to brush my teeth. I've been sticking the wax on them all day yesterday and all night while I slept too so I don't get any cold sores. But my mouth still feels so raw. My tongue keeps pushing on my teeth because they are really tight.

I'm the only one in my family to have crooked teeth. My parents couldn't afford to get me braces when I was young so I'm finally getting them on now. I'm a 22 year old college student. I bought my own dental insurance that would cover a portion of the treatment. The Ortho said I'll probably have to wear them for 3 years. I can't believe I'll be 25 when I finally get them off. I had to get 6 teeth pulled to begin the treatment. That was really painful! Especially having to change my diet. There are so many things I love to eat and I just can't anymore. Last night was my first night with braces. I had sushi for dinner and it hurt so bad that it didn't even taste good! I can't wait for this to be over.

Here are some pictures of my really crooked teeth.

here's the bottom ones, not as bad as the top.

I'll keep posting, new pics when they start moving.
I'm going on a trip this week for one month so I hope nothing happens to them until I get back.

Hi Alicia,

I LOVE your pink ligatures - very cool. I'm about your age (well a little older I'm 24) and I'm getting my braces tomorrow! I'm nervous but excited. You've inspired me to be brave and get pink ties too!
Don't worry about being 25 when you get them off, that's still a a baby!
