CelestialVoices's Journey...

#1 Post by CelestialVoices »

I went to the orthodontist for an intial consultation and was told all sort of technical things (most of which went in one ear and out the other) but I DO know that I will need one tooth pulled eventually on my bottom jaw and an expander. I can't start having anything done until mid October...which is kind of crappy, but everything will get started before I know it! :)

Pfft...stepparents

#6 Post by CelestialVoices »

My dad and stepmom came down this weekend to my college for our family weekend, and while we were eating lunch I asked my dad if he told his wife anything about my braces. He said "Yep, I told her on the way down here..." She was LESS than pleased, and asked me "Why do you want them?" I literally had to ask her "What do you mean?" so she repeated herself again.
I told her that I wanted them for a better smile, bite and easier cleaning, etc. It's not like I'm getting them 'just to get them'
Sheesh.
There's an unsupportive one in every crowd I guess.
The most important thing is that I know why I am getting them and I'm not going to let anything (especially negative comments) stop me. :)

Dentist appointment yesterday...

#8 Post by CelestialVoices »

Okay, so all I did was go for the routine cleaning. My periodontal evaluation ( which is the measurement of bone height for those who don't know) was good...lot's of 1's. 2's. 3's and the 4's I had didn't get any worse. However, my dentist did say is that I have the early early stages of decalcification between quite a few of my teeth! She said flossing will help this, but it still scares me a bit. :|

I'm sorry, I should have clarified, flossing doesn't scare me, I meant the decalcification...but maybe having the crowding fixed by braces will help mine too. :) and I'll just have to keep on flossing!

Fees decreased thanks to insurance!

#11 Post by CelestialVoices »

I just got an email from my Dad today that said our insurance will be covering $1,500 worth of treatment and the down payment due to my ortho is now $475.00 instead of $775.00 and the monthly payments are $100.00 per month for 24 months instead of $150.00! :D

Records/Spacers today!

#13 Post by CelestialVoices »

Well records/spacers went very smoothly, I gagged a bit on the impressions and felt pressure as the separators were being put in but other than that, I was fine. First step down! :D

Ehum, I doubt I'll be getting them next week, because I'll be getting my bands the 24th and my Porter appliance on the 26th. :)

Spacers out today, but spacers back in too...

#15 Post by CelestialVoices »

Hi all, I got my spacers out today and bands fitted. They took the spacers out, checked to see if the bands were the right size (they were on the first try woohoo!) and they did an impression (more gagging this time yuck) and then put thicker spacers in to hold the spaces already made by the ones that I've had for five days.
(Whew! confusing eh?)
I'm fine but sore, the most back upper tooth on the right side is the most sensitive :(
