mmgreco's story-It's been a little over a year - w/ pics

Ok...to start off my story....I went to the dentist about 16 years ago and got my 1st Bicuspids on the top pulled so my canine teeth could come down. (They grew way too high, up in my gumline). I only went to the dentist 1 time after that. I hated them!!!
So, 2 months ago after not going to the dentist for 15 1/2 years I decide I'm 29 years old what do I have to lose!?! And that's what brings me here, to the Metal Mouth Message Board.
I had 2 cavities both very small and in my 3rd molars (wisdom teeth) because they were turned out so I couldn't brush them very well. And he said I needed braces so he made me an appointment with an Ortho. Now 2 months and 6 less teeth later (they pulled all 4 of my 3rd molars and my bottom 2 2nd Bicuspids) I am getting braces put on next Thursday with very mixed emotions. Sometimes I feel like this
and sometimes, ok most of the time I feel like this
As soon as I figure out how to insert pics I will post before pics......

Good luck! Getting the braces on is a pretty interesting procedure. The pain is not that bad and knowing it's there means everything's moving. Are you gonna post pics of your new braces? See you around!

Guppie51 - my ortho hasn't told me anything except for the fact that I need braces. I guess when I go in next Thursday everything will be a surprise for me!
KK - thanks for your color help. I was kind of wondering about the grey anyways since I am getting metal brackets on top and bottom, I don't think you would be able to see it.

Well as of today I am a member of the bracket club. I got my braces on about an hour ago and the only pain I have is a head ache from being almost upside down in the chair for so long. I am VERY excited about the months to come!!

I saw someone (forgot who) on the message board today who got metallic purple ligs. They looked so spiffy! Most everyone's purple ligs look great.

Well, it has been 12 days since getting my braces on and I had to go in today to get my wires clipped, they were cutting into my cheeks
They couldn't believe the movement in that short of time! They also tightened the wires so I'm sure I will have sore teeth again tomorrow. I will post more pics soon!

Just wanted to say "hi" mmgreco
Glad it's going ok and the purple is fab! I am going for blue next time but then think it's time for purple. It's kinda funny but I treat the ligs as a fashion accessory and spend time deciding on colours! I am in such a dilemma deciding on Xmas colours!!
The sensitive teeth when biting thing is annoying but I've now really got used to not biting on anything. I cut food up small and place it on my molars to chew. Biting with the front teeth is totally out of the question.
It was also interesting when you said having your head practically upsidedown in the chair was horrible. I felt so dizzy and quite sick when I had the top brace on - I was so nervous/excited and having my head hanging backwards was horrible. I didn't notice it so much on my second visit though.
Anyway, good luck and I'll be intersted to see your progress. Nite nite
