Does anyone know why tie wires are used sometimes instead of ligatures?
Thanks!

mandaluv, since the beginning of my treatment my ortho has always used a combination of tie wires and ligatures. On the stubborn teeth they always use the wires, then the assistant always puts a ligature on top of the tie wire (she tells me) just to make it more comfortable. I also ask them to put ligatures on the brackets on my molar bands to make the more comfortable and they always do.
