Lig colors in pictures

#1 Post by Teigyr »

I know, lig colors have been done to death!!!

I am getting married in November and will still have my metal braces. I don't mind the metal OR the colors but heard a story about someone who had green ligs and it was mistaken for lettuce stuck in his teeth.

I was thinking of matching my ligs to something but am now thinking that silver would be the best course of action. Does anyone have any experience with how ligs photograph in portrait type pictures? I have no desire to photoshop the braces out, they are part of who I am and I'm good with them. I don't, however, want people to look at a wedding picture and wonder if the color in my mouth is bits of food!!!

I know clear is an option also but I fully plan on drinking red wine and I'd prefer not to worry about staining.

Thanks! :D

I've just got my ligs changed - a bit more subtle for starting uni as they were bright pink, yellow, bright blue and navy before! (quite the combo I know). I asked my ortho what would be best and she warned me against clear or white as they stain but instead recommended a smokey grey/kind of off-white colour. I must admit it's alot more subtle and the great thing is it makes my teeth look really white and straight for some reason!! Have a chat with your ortho but i recommend that colour, I bet it would be barely noticeable in your photos.

And good luck getting married!!

thanks for all your replies :D

no, not white. "ivory" is the color -- it looks far better on me than stark white. My shoes and handbag will be gold but I think gold ligs might be mistaken for yellow teeth.

It's too bad I just thought of this and just had an ortho appt. I should have started experimenting long ago!

I do like the smokey grey/off white idea, I might have to try that next month. I figure the ortho has got to allow me to get them changed the friday before the wedding no matter what, brides deserve clean ligs!

I found the pearl (tooth coloured) ligs don't stain much. I had clear first & they stained in about 3 days! I'd try pearl.

ligs

If I was a betting man I would go with Opaque. I had mine for 3 weeks with lots of Chinese and I couldn't get them to stain. All they do is blend in with the brackets and I can't even tell if I got ligs or not.

Thanks Meryaten, Tin Indian --

Is opaque a color or just a style? I'm trying to think of what my ortho has and really, it is blessed little. Withstanding chinese is a positive step though -- I am fond of red wine, dark beer, and curry!
