permanent retainer DOs and DONTs

If you have finished with your orthodontic treatment and are wearing retainers (or will be soon), this is a special place to connect with others in your (enviable) situation. Ask a question or make a comment about life post-braces.

permanent retainer DOs and DONTs

#1 Post by leesah »

I just got my braces off this afternoon, and got a permanent retainer bonded to my top and bottom teeth. All my orthodontist told me was how to clean it, and I'm kind of paranoid now that I'll break it in my frantic post-braces crunchy food binge.

Are there foods I need to stay away from to avoid breaking it, like with braces?

I have this on the bottom and was told NOTHING to worry about. My ortho and staff are pretty good with warnings too.

I'm leary too, after all this lil wire is just so teeny and seems fragile but I just chomp away so enjoy!
