You should brush THEN floss. Think about it....if you floss first you are going to be pushing food debris and bacteria DEEPER into you gum tissues...that's no good;)

This is what my dentist told me, and I've been following these directions for years.... and herein lies the whole ... chicken or egg first issue. My perio, hygienist and ortho ... all different practises ... said the reason to brush, then floss and then use a fluoride mouthwash, was to prevent brushing food particles being brushed in between your teeth. The mouthwash makes sure anything that was left after flossing, is washed down the sink.... floss first to get rid of the food in between teeth, then brush them away.
