Oww, they were not kidding :soremouth: Last night my teeth were so sore that I could not brush. The lower front brackets scratched my lip, but I couldn't even apply wax: it hurt too much to push it against the brackets! It's been a while since eating a banana was a physical challenge...
I'm not complaining though. I know this is good pain and it will subside soon. Good thing that I love yoghurt anyway

Thanks for your nice comments, everyone!

Just added a new pic

That bite still has a long way to go.

For comparison this is where I originally started from, before the SARPE and everything.
There is an obvious reason why this is the only picture of that situation, and yes, I like to keep it small...

Adjustment #16 was today. All uneventful. Lowers got their strongest wire so far. Upper molars have been misbehaving, trying to create a cross bite again. Ortho told me to pay attention to where my tongue likes to sit: it should spend more time up against the palate. Need to concentrate on that more.
Next stop in two weeks when they will readjust my molar rings and change ligs. Ortho will have a look at things in 5-6 weeks.
Ortho didn't comment on my progress (she barely talks at all) but her assistant said things are looking good. Go figure what that means in terms of how long this will still take  She didn't want to get more exact about it.

(Mini) adjustment, #17 was for re-adjusting and replacing two of my molar rings. The ones around my upper molar teeth #6 were originally (probably intentionally, though) placed a little too low for whatever my ortho is trying to accomplish at this point, so the right molar ring was yanked off and then put back in a better position. The left one was replaced with a little bigger ring. It is surprising how easily those molar rings come off. Glad to tell you that it wasn't too unpleasant at all. Count out the taste of that good old glue :yuck: Otherwise I'm just feeling a little bored about braces in general  Who doesn't occasionally, huh?

On the other hand it lifted my spirits to realize it has been two years since I started out with SARPE in October 6th 2004. Two years! Doesn't seem like that long ago!

2yrs on, are you happy with how the SARPE turned out?
Yes, I am! I hated going through it but looking back now it really was the right thing to do. Although I confess being bored about braces now I'm still happy about one thing: since the rough start and having to make all big decisions my progress has been smooth and uneventful [knocking on wood]. To sum up, boring is good :)

Joplin, I so remember when you first came on this board. I can't believe two years have gone by since you started down the SARPE road.

And I hear you about being bored with the braces. I know what to eat, how to eat it, brush between meals, etc... without a problem and actually without thinking about it. It's all autopilot. Adjustments are boring and I even almost forgot about my last appointment.

But you know what? You had so much drama early on that you deserve a bit of boring thrown it there too.

I've been reading your story (off and on) since I came onto the boards last year. It is good to hear that you are bored! Hopefully there will be only boredom until you get to the finish mark, i.e. no drama.

First of all thank you everyone for all the nice "happy boredom" wishes since my last entry

Today my cosy boredom was interrupted by adjustment #18 . This time the ortho spent most of her time studying the status of my lowers. Two brackets were repositioned. The uppers were mostly left alone, but the ortho pointed out strongly that on the left side my upper molars are trying to create a crossbite again. Bad bad bad! She says that's happening because my tongue keeps misbehaving :? It should spend more time resting up against my palate. I swear I've been concentrating on that issue, but obviously I need to pay even more attention to that. "It is important because at one point you are supposed not to wear braces anymore", said the ortho - and that is by far the clearest sign from her suggesting that there actually is an end of treatment for me somewhere out there

Next appointment in 4 weeks.
