Extractions with Linguals HELP!!!!!

#1 Post by sonja »

hi everyone
i am wondering if anyone has had extractions of teeth in the front where it is very visable and had linguals, i want to get temporary teeth to go there until the others move properly but how do you put a temp tooth in when the braces are at the back, how does the tooth stay there????????
so confused...

yes i have 2 baby teeth at the front and the adult teeth are behind them, one is still in my gum and needs to be brought out of hiding somehow and the other one is behind the baby almost like there is 2 rows of teeth back there only one is a baby...
i have a friend who has had the temp teeth joined onto her braces and they changed size over the process of her teeth moving but she had regular braces so it could be different.
where do i go to talk to this woman you mentioned??

Wooooops sorry of course he is a guy, yes i meant Dr. Strassner.
yeah i didnt know they did that either until Louise thats my friend who had them told me about it. she had standard braces to move her teeth backwards so she could fit in 2 implants, she just didnt like those teeth i guess.
i originally wanted implants but i was told by my dentist it was a really bad idea and the final result in my case wouldnt be as good as braces. i cried for a while when i heard that but now i am trying to get my spirits up again and focus on linguals..... if i can bear it..........

temporary teeth for linguals

#4 Post by Strassner »

Yes, the space where teeth were extracted can be temporarily filled in when using lingual braces. They are decreased in size as the space is closed. Dr. Strassner

If you go to the Australian Society of Orthodontists' website, sonja, you'll find a few orthos in WA who do linguals.

Have you had any referrals from your regular dentist?

how do wires work on lingual

#11 Post by Strassner »

Thewires on lilnguals work exactly as they do on the outside. The only difference is that they are on the side. Sometimes it is necessary to add a few minor things on the outside of the back teeth because linguals are a little more limiting than regular braces. Dr. Strassner.

Oh yeh.. they didnt bracket the baby tooth because it's coming out...
In ur case i would imagine them to take the baby tooth out before they install ur braces in.. as u have an adult tooth there, it will be easier to work with...
