A Foul Mouth More Fair (New Pictures Page 6)

#1 Post by Laurie »

No, I'm not talking about sharing chicken. (snicker)

My name is Laurie and these Image are my teeth.

These Image are my teeth too.

Yes, I have been called a vampire. Yes, I've busted the tip of one of those fangs on playground equipment. And Yes, I've been popped in the mouth before and had them cause a good bit of damage to the inside of my lip. Funny enough is the fact that when I bite into things my teeth leave a "Batman" like mark on things. Fitting eh? I should get a picture of that too.

So, at the splendid age of 32 I'm getting braces. I'm happy to say that my husband of 12 years is totally behind me in my decision and he's *almost* as happy about it as I am.

This past Wednesday I had my spacers put in.
Image
Lovely little things, aren't they? I feel a little like the Princess and the Pea. These tiny things causing so much discomfort. But honestly they aren't that bad. Just a bit annoying (like my children... wait.... I'm not supposed to admit that am I?). I did have one bust the very next day and had to go back in to get a new one. Man it was really sore to have it replaced. But alas I lived.

I'm getting metal braces and I'm still not decided on what color ligs to get. I don't eat curry as there is no place TO eat curry where I live. I do enjoy coffee and soda though. I know it's miserable on the teeth but a girl's got to have her vices.

I'm going to try to get some good photos of my uppers and lowers to post. I've taken many but I just can't seem to get it right. I think taking photos of your own teeth should be classified as an art.

KK, I've been looking but I haven't found a post that talks about the best brands of those items to buy. I need to look some more because I'm sure it's here somewhere! And thank you for saying I have nice looking teeth. It took me forever to realize that the shape of my actual teeth wasn't bad, it's the allignment that sucks.

Marley/color] thank you too for your well wishes. I really do hope I see fast improvment.

Thanks for the info Meryaten!

I tried biting some cheese to get an impression of my teeth and I SWEAR my bite has changed just from the silly spacers! I've been running my tounge on the inside of my teeth today because it felt "different" but I kept telling myself I was being a ninny. Hmm maybe not.

The good news is that my spacers don't feel so out of place. Like they've settled or something. I don't know. But I do need to do some salt-water rinsing because the place where the tech nicked me on the roof of my mouth is rather sore today.

Also Meryaten it's good to hear there is another cheapo here. Although I do admit there are things I do pay more for most things I do cheaply.

What was the biggest turning point in my husband's attitude towards me getting braces was when he was whacked in the mouth with a metal bar and wound up with a huge chip out of one of his front teeth. The dentist couldn't see him right away so he had to live with it that way for a couple of weeks. He realized he had taken his nice smile for granted for so long and how something like how your smile looks affects your self worth so greatly. Since then he's insisted that I get my braces like I've wanted them for so long. Every time I try to take the route of "it's so expensive" he tells me that we will find a way to make it work and that I've wanted this for far too many years to back out now.

Wow.... I got a bit sappy there! LOTS of sap in here!

Anyway, thank you all so much for the information. I really appreciate it.

Well Image.

I just busted the very same stupid spacer. It's still in there but it's not a circle anymore. It's just a line. I guess that's better than nothing. Even more lovely is the fact that they are closed Monday for Memorial Day and I'm due for braces on Tuesday. Well, it's not like I can do anything about it now. Maybe with 1/2 of one in there it will keep the space open enough for a bracket. :?

Oh good! Maybe it won't cause a big snafu! You know I don't know what I'll do if I can't get it done then. It's like this big thing that takes over your whole brain. It's all I can think about.

More pictures to pass the time....

My kiddos are 10 (boy), 8 (girl), and 6 (boy).
I don't teach at the school. I'm a lunch goddess (aka lunch lady). I don't think I could teach. I'd wind up in the supply closet in a fetal position wimpering before it was over. Honestly though, I really enjoy my job. I enjoy cooking and the hours work out wonderful with my kids. I never have to worry about daycare because I'm off of work before the kids are out of school.

I'm sure before too long the new will wear off my braces and I'll be ready to go at them with a pair of wire clippers. LOL! But I think it will be neat to go through this with all of you. If anything I'm learning a lot about lig colors!

Naming a boat Snafu and it messing up all the time is like a self fulfilling prophecy!

I'm very good at eating also. I always say "Never trust a skinny cook!" LOL!

I had spacers for 6 days and was told that if they fell out on day 4 or 5 that it shouldn't be a problem but if one fell out before that to have a new one put in. Luckily none fell out. They only have to create a very tiny gap to get the molar bands in so you should be fine.

good luck with your braces.

Thanks Linda! I really hope my bite can be fixed completely.

And kirjax you have no idea how much stress hearing that just took off of me! I'm so worried that I won't be able to go ahead with my braces tomorrow.
