Jenni11's Story.

#1 Post by jenni11 »

So today is Oct.11th. I posted a message a while ago when I found out today was the day I would be getting my braces. My birthday is in exactly one week. Next thurdsday I turn 21. To me getting braces in stage two of changing myself. Stage one was starting to eat healthy and exercise.

So to start off the story. I was really excited to get my braces, they said it would take 2 hrs. And I think it did but time flew by fast. It wasnt so bad. The worst part was the stupid thing to keep my tounge in place and suction saliva was hurting me. But it was a pretty good experience getting them on. So my teeth werent hurting and they never told me I had to wait a couple hours before eating so I headed over to wendys and got a hamburger and chilli. they were both soft right? HA! burger was soft allright but I learned quick why it sucks. I had hamburger bun all in my teeth. lo.. the chilli was ok though i should have just stuck with that. Eating feels different. Food doesnt taste the same.

So I ate then brushed everthing still going good. All of a sudden as I am sitting at my desk working I feel a pop and I think uh oh my wire has come out. NOPE bracket popped off. Great I have been away for an hr and look what happend. I think refraining from eating would have helped but the Dr. Said their wasnt enough adhesive on that one thats why it came off. So I go to get it fixed and first try it pops off again so they used a different adhesive again. Im thinking im out of the clear and as i am goin down the elevator bottom front bracket decides to pop off. So I got back upstairs and get that one fixed too. The reason for that one was the position of the tooth. He thought that one might because of all of the sudden pressure on that one tooth.

So anyways I am home now all is good. My boyfriend hasnt made fun of me like i thought he would which is nice. He did enough of that before I even had them on.lol. My mouth is a little bit tender. Only on the bottom row. But its okay. The worst is where I bit my right cheek like 10 times. !@#@$#$#@. That sucks.

So I am in it for the long wait of 22months which isnt bad compared to my friend who had them for 7 years.

Keep reading to hear updates and I will post pictures soon.

:D

Great that you got your braces! Thats exciting. I have an expander and because of it I have this massive hole in my front teeth.. I can't wait to get braces now. :D Good luck with your journey. I have 24 months of treatment and I just turned 22. Yeah us!

thanks for the good advice. So far it is day 5 and I am doing better. doesnt really hurt anymore. I had fettuchini alfredo last night. mmmmm so good. i was very happy with that. And i got to eat and orange. THe christmas oranges are good cuz they are small.

Only negative thing i guess is brushing with the electric. Im going to stick to manual for a few more days. and i have developed a kind of skin tag or sore on my top lip from the front of my braces. other than that its fun!.
I was teachin some kids on the weekend at home safety and they had braces too so we exchanged stories it was fun.

Today My Birthday

#5 Post by jenni11 »

So today I finally turned 21. And uh well my teeth no longer hurt when I am just sitting here but I felt brave and tried eating a sandwich wrap. Uh Hells no!. I can just bite into it. So I cut it up into little pieces and put it in my mouth to chew with my back teeth. Funny as hell. But my lovely mommy brought me a birthday cake so my co workers and I ate that. it was soft so it was good. My mom attempted jello and I guess it was a disaster. She tried puttin a candle in it and it got all over her van..lol. So then later on my friend took me for dinner and we went out for pasta. It worked out nice with ice cream for dessert. And I brushed my teeth in a public washroom for the first time. I find having braces is exciting.

Over all I had a really good day despite the pain i felt all afternoon because of my stupid attempt to eat the damn wrap. lol. :P :D

Happy 21st Birthday! I hope you had a great day!

Chewing bread will definitely get easier. I can eat bread rolls and stuff now. I tried a wrap the other day and it got pretty messy but I'm sure that will get easier too.

Braces really are exciting aren't they? It will be even more exciting when you start seeing and feeling movement. Not everyone has the chance to have braces so it really is great that you have this opportunity to make your teeth look and work better.

Good luck with everything!! :D

SUCCESS! I was able to eat at my birthday dinner. I had steak (medium well is soft enough) and mashed potatoes with veggies. Uh ya bok choy gets stuck lol. I was so happy. small pieces didnt hurt tasted good. Only downside is trying to brush your teeth when you have had a couple too many glasses of wine. It was awesome though! So happy it worked out. :D

That's really good that you enjoyed your birthday meal. There's no reason you can't enjoy food with braces just as much as you did without them. :) Sounds like you had a yummy dinner. I know what you mean about brushing your teeth after a few drinks :P
I hope everything is going well for you! :rose:

Gosh darn it! I had another bracket popped off. Does anyone else have this problem?
Someone was arguing with me saying it is because I have damon 3’s and traditional brackets are stronger? I just think maybe the cement just didn’t hold as well….

But none the less I was off the the ortho once again. One good thing was he said I am very good with the teeth brushing. Its funny how my ortho works so much with kids, makes me feel little again cuz he is just used to talking to people like that..lol.

I also hope to have some pictures posted soon. :D

I had a molar tube that was metal and it just wouldn't hold. Granted it was on a porcelain crown, but still, it held up for 5 months or so and then it just refused. I wouldn't blame the bracket itself just yet. I think it's normal.
Upper and lower 1st premolars extracted
