Wow, has it been a year ALREADY?!?!

Hello all,

It has been a long while since I posted last, but I have visited frequently and enjoyed all of your stories. I woke up this morning, and realized today was my one year anniversary of my surgery! I cant believe how fast time went. I decided to put up a few pics that showed my begining to end progress, since I didnt really get to before :) If you can remember that far back, I ended up having Lefort I, and BSSO. Here are my pics from begining to end...

This is where I started...

This is me 4 days post op (holy cow the swelling was crazy!)

This is how my teeth looked post surgery/braces...

The day I got my braces off (I still had swelling in March from my Nov surgery..)

And, here is a recent picture (you can see how much of the swelling has gone away. I still notice it, but its waaaay better than before!)

So yeah, crazy to look back at the year that was! To all of you who are getting ready for your journey, chin up! Its not as bad as you think it is going to be! And for those of you who are just out of surgery, congrats on your accomplishment! You will be back to normal in no time! And finally, to all of you who helped me through my journey, I cant thank you enough! You guys are the best!

Be well everyone! :)

Joe,

You sure are a success story! You look great! I remember I saw your pictures somewhere else on the 'Net before my surgery. Very inspiring.

It really helps to see what people have gone through, so thanks for sharing.

Happy 1 year! :jump:

your results are awsome. Thanks for posting. I am 3 weeks post-op BSSO and Lefort I. I am glad you mentioned you had swelling 4 months post-op. I was begining to worry because when I wake up in the mornings I have a lot of swelling. Enough that I am biting my cheeks when I sleep and my face feels very stiff for a few hours.

How long did you continue to have residual swelling?

Hi all,

Thank you so much for all the kind words. Its a journey for sure, but one that is well worth it in the end :)

As far as the residual swelling, I still have some (that I notice) but its so minimal that no one else does. You know how you notice every little idiosyncracy (sp?) about yourself? I am the same way :) But yeah, still have some numbness too, but its been so long that even if it never came back, I wouldnt care. Im so used to it now, its second nature. I figure with how drastic my bite was then, to where it is now, you gotta sacrifice a little to look "normal" right? lol.

There are so many others here with wonderful results too, that all of you who are fearing surgery should be at ease. I was the same way (its human nature) but you will all be fine! ;) If we can be of any help to any of you, dont hesitate to ask...

Be well,

Joe
