Time between spacers and getting braced

#1 Post by jgrrl22 »

Hello all,

My ortho's office called today to reschedule my appointment to get spacers. Originally I was getting the spacers in on Jan. 5th and banded on Jan. 11th. Now they've pushed back my spacers appointment to Jan. 7th but the banding date stays the same.

Does this seem like a very short amount of time between those two appointments? I'm just worried that only having spacers for 3 1/2 days before getting braced won't give my teeth much time to move out of the way for that one molar band I'm getting.

Any thoughts???

Four days should be fine. One manufacturer says spacers only need to be in place three days. Based upon the experience some people have, only four days may be considered a late Christmas gift.

Mike
I wore braces (this time) for 1294 days or 3 years, 6 months and 17 days.
But who's counting?

Thanks for praying for me and thinking happy thoughts.

I'll drink to that, iBorg !! I'm not complaining about lack of time as far as pain goes... I just want to make sure they're in long enough to do the job! I don't want to go in on the 11th expecting to get my braces fitted only to have my ortho say "Oops, sorry! The spacers weren't in long enough so we'll have to wait."

I just wanna get this party started!!!

I got my spacers on a Thursday afternoon and was braced that Monday. No problems at all! Those spacers work very quickly - yikes

Thanks so much for letting me know! I know I'm probably just overly paranoid, but I just want everything to happen on time. I've waited long enough to get braces... I just want to get the ball rolling!

Hopefully I'll have enough time between leaving work and getting to the ortho's to have some lunch!!! From what I hear, I probably won't be eating a whole lot those few days the spacers are in. :(

Congratulations on getting braced!

I had the opposite problem! I had my spacers placed and my appointment for braces was TWO weeks away! One on the bottom ended up coming out. By the time my appointment came. It had closed up. I had to wait and get spacers placed on that molar again.

It's amazing how fast our teeth move. You'll do great!

Thanks so much for all your kind words and encouragement! I'm just trying to remember that my orthodontist knows what she's doing and that she wouldn't schedule those appointments closer together if she didn't think it would be enough time.

I'm so glad I found this site!!
