I just did it. I had my tonsils removed 12/21. I have braces too. My ent said not a problem.

However, I must tell you having my tonsils out is BY FAR the worst pain I've ever experienced.
I have had 2 c-sections, my appendix and gallbladder removed and SARPE. I'm still using percocet to sleep 2 weeks out. the ENT is putting me on my 2nd round of prednisone for swelling in2 weeks. I still can't sleep lying flat.

I'd really be sure that having your tonsils out is the only option. by the way I had the "best" option for least pain for adults.

SARPE 11/23/06
Expansion over 12/18/06 8.5mm
Brace day tops 1/15/07
Brace day bottoms 3/19/07
all expansion devices removed 9/19/07

Thanks for the feedback. I have been getting severe sore throats about twice a month every month for the past year. I have been missing countless days of work (never a good thing), I would rather endure the 2-3 weeks of pain to get rid of this monthly occurance. What do you think (from your personal experience)?

I too had my tonsils out as an adult(I was actually 20 when I had mine out too). I would definitely go for it though! While yes, I will admit it was the WORST pain ever I don't regret having the operation as I don't get sick like I did before. Just think of it this way, you won't get sick as often, won't have to miss work and will be a healthier person overall! Good luck Katie, and make sure you have plenty of movies to watch during your recovery.

Thank You Beckster. I am currently 20 so it was nice to hear that you had it around the same age. I am just very tired of getting sick and missing work/school all the time! I have my consultation with the surgeon on the 14th. I am sort of nervous but I hope that it is for the better. Thanks again!
