New to Invisalign...Question! :)

#1 Post by PennyPen »

I just started my treatment. I have 10 trays on the bottom and 6 on the top. My doc estimates 5 months to complete this (express case).

I've read on here that some people change their trays every 10 or 11 days versus 14 days in order to finish sooner.

This sounds like a terrific idea to me. I've only five days into my fisrt tray, but I am very dedicated and wear them almost constantly.

Does anyone change their tray at 10 or 11 days? I think I may call my ortho and ask him about this option (based on response here).

Than you! :D

I was cut down to 11 days as my ortho could see I was wearing the trays and the teeth were moving just nicely. 220 hours per aligner is recommended, so by doing 10 days at 22 hours you have an extra day to allow for any time during the last aligner that you didn't quite make 22 hours.

I notice my teeth have shifted by 5 days and the rest of the time it's just allowing the bone to heal.

The more trays you have the better it is to be able to cut down to 10 or 11 days as it does knock a good few months off

I'd be hesitant to do that - I've been finding that my teeth move during the second week as well. It seems like as movement takes place during the first week, that allows the movement to continue. Of course, my top aligners aren't working anymore due to stubborn eye tooth, but I find this with the bottoms.
