Can't wait..but getting nervous
I‘m getting my aligner within the next few weeks and Im really excited but after reading all the different post with peoples different reactions to their treatment I am also starting to get a little nervous. I have been self-conscious about my teeth for as long as I can remember. I have a really bad overbite and a little crowding. I have never had braces and now at 28 I have decided that it’s now or never. For years I have held back showing a big smiling in pictures or even out with friends. I hold my jaw a certain way so that my teeth don’t stick out as much. I’ve had dentist over the years tell me I should get it corrected but I was too embarrassed by the thought of being a 20 something metal mouth (stupid and vain I know…). Never mind the cost. At my last dentist appointment my dentist brought up Invisalign and said I should give it a try. I was concerned because I’ve read that it would not work for anyone with more than moderate crowding but then he showed me before and after pics of different patients of his with similar cases as mine which helped me decide to go forward with it ( 2 yrs of treatment ). I’ve convinced my self that money I’ll be spending is an investment that I will have for years to come. He did tell me that it will not correct my bite 100% but after years of being self conscious and embarrassed by my mouth any improvement would be a huge boost to me. Also looking forward to losing a little weight
..Seems like too many hassles to pull the aligners out brush floss and put back in for a quick sugary snack. I am concerned about taking them in and out. It is really as bad as some people are saying?? Also has anyone had problems with bad breath from the aligner? This may sound silly but as the days get closer to me actually having them I’m thinking of all the problematic things that can go wrong. I will say that I’m happy to have found a message board with some many different thought and ideas. Any advice/encouragement that anyone has for a newbie would be much appreciated!!!!

Hi and welcome to the message board. I'm somewhat of a newbie myself but I have been wearing the invisalign for almost a week and a half. I will start by offering some words of encouragement..After 10 or so days I am perfectly comfortable with my invisalign. I don't have mouth sores (first couple of days my tounge was irritated), they are quite easy to take in and out, I already feel a ton of movement, and as long as you clean and brush your teeth and aligners at least 3 if not 4 times a day you should not have to worry about any bad breath. The first couple of days aren't bad but there not great either. You will feel discomfort..not pain, more like a pressure. The first time I took my aligners out I broke a speedbump. They were that tight. Since then I have had no problems. Maybe we can compare our invisalign results. It sounds like we both have the same problems with our teeth. I have a bad overbite and slight crowding (also a narrow arch that I hear invisalign works well on). It's funny, when I read about what you do out socially holding your jaw so your teeth look better I laughed because I do the same thing. Well good luck and welcome!

thank you!!
Thanks for the post!! It's nice to know that im not the only one who will be using Invisalign for fix a little bit more than some crowding and some spacing. My Ortho says that the compnay has made a lot of advancement in their technology so hopefully we will both benefit greatly. I'll post again once i get my first set. I'm dont have the nerve up to post pics yet
but maybe once I start to see some movement I'll feel diffrently. The majority of my work needs to be done in the front which is supposed to be the last move but I can only wait and see. Look forward to comparing results!
