I'm New! Braces go on tomarrow!

#1 Post by OfficerJen »

Okay, Hi, I'm Jen, I'm a police officer in kansas and i'm new to the whole braces thing.

I have an open bite which prevents me from eating sandwiches, yummy pizza and anything else without problems. I also have slight cross bite which has in turned caused tmj problems. All my issues stem down to a structural problem in my upper front teeth/jaw. I am having the surgery/braces.

My braces go on tomarrow, I just made my appointment 5 minutes ago. My surgery consultation is march 25th. My surgerIy will be in 12 months and I have no idea what to expect.

I love the idea of having strait teeth, but at 23 years old, I can't wait any longer!

I'm excited, and i finally have insurance that cover 1200 dollar of my treatment fee.

Treatment time: 1.5 years
Treatment fee: 4500 dollars + surgery costs

Hi Jen!(I'm a Jen too :D )

Welcome to the "club"!! :-1 Congrats on deciding to get braces. I'm 32 and couldn't wait any longer so I know how you feel. So tomorrow's the big day? Don't expect to get much sleep tonight! That's great you have some of your costs covered. I'm still waiting to hear from my insurance company and I have my tops on already! :-=

You should start a journal in "Our Braces Story". It's a great way to keep track of your journey from start to finish :computer: .

Good luck tomorrow....and don't forget some OTC pain relief for afterwards!
Keep smilin'! :)

Hi Jen and welcome.

I had teeth not unlike yours although my open bite extended further back (premolars didn't touch).

Good luck with it all.

I hope that you have a good frozen margarita to go with that!

hi everybody!

i just got my braces (spacers --- really hurt) a couple of days ago and it hurts really bad. i can't eat anything....there's this sensation in my mouth that is so weird...

but i do love the wax ...helps ease the pain esp. at nite time.....

i was skeptical about getting braces at the age of 30, but seems like every body's doing it..... cool ....

thanks for all the tricks and tips fr this website .... :D
