VIDEO DIARY - EPISODE 5 - Pg 3

#1 Post by martinboyce »

Im considering doing a video diary of my braces journey, basically a video mirroring my posts on here with the added benefit of seeing me in my braces and actually seeing the mood im in.

My braces should be on in 5 days time and intend to record my first entry on that day and everyday probably for the first week (the hardest time for most people) and then around adjustments and finally debanding.

I would upload the vids to my youtube account, and link them back to here.

I just wanted to see if people would be interested, id like if nothing else to help other newbies and have a nice way of looking back at my journey, the good and bad bits.

Let me know guys :)

Big Hug :)

Go for it!

When I was considering braces I enjoyed following Desiree's Braces Journey on You Tube and whatsinasmile.wordpress.com blog spot.

Martin,

cool video, you present yourself very confidently and eloquently. Nice hair by the way. I was going to comment on youtube but comments are not enabled.

Good luck for today, you are probably on your way there now. Looking forward to the next installment!

I disabled the comments on youtube coz they are a mean bunch on there, just a chance to attack someone, id rather them not aim it at me.

Im about to set off for the ortho, bit on edge, but still positive, will see in about an hour or so, :)

fingers crossed

Big Hugs

seeya soon :)

Awww yes thanks it was nice.

You are probably right about the comments though, there are some sad people with nothing better to do than be nasty. I think its a really good idea to do a video diary, wish I'd thought of it and started one at the beginning of my treatment in fact I wish I'd started my brace story with abit more detail. Anyway - looks like your video/brace story will be avid reading and viewing!

Hugs and best wishes!

I wish I could have posted a comment on the video! I love how you explain it! I am still in the decision or "research" phase. I love the excited but not like you are going on "holiday".

I look forward to seeing your progress! I am still trying to decide between all metal or ceramic uppers and metal lowers.

Good luck!!

ITS OFFICIAL, IM IN THE CLUB!!

Hello everyone, thats it im braced at long last i have hardware on my teeth, I went in at 4 and came out at 5, was pretty simple.

I went in, filled out the paper work, sorted out the financial side of things, then i went into the orthos room.

Sat in the chair, put on the stevie wonder sunglasses ready to rock and roll.

Mr Watkinson, a lovely chap popped in the gum seperators, evil things, proceeded to clean the teeth areas where the ligs get attached. then the nurse proceeded to suck and blow the teeth dry. Then i think they applied the glue, each bracket in turn was put in place then they use a ultra violet torch thing to dry them fast.

They did the bottoms first, then the tops, then threded the wire on the bottom, twisting each one til it locked, then i could feel the tension for the first time. Then her added a white wire to the top and locked them all in. Snipped the wires and voila, it was done.

Hes not gone all the way to the back teeth yet, hes trying to straighten the wire so he can use a thicker one for that, prob in a couple of adjustments time.

I was lucky enough to have some photos taken of the proceedure as well. I look pretty cool!!!

Brilliant! I am glad you made that video.
I felt the same way you did before I got braced; you will be amazed when those two incisors come forward. I was tickled pink when mine did!

I've done videos on youtube at http://bracesafter40.blogspot.com as well and have found them useful as I've received e-mails and comments about the progress and how the videos have acually inspired others to go get braces or make videos of their own.

I have not disabled comments as I love to talk to people and see what they have to say, good and bad. It makes the world go around.

Good luck on your continued journey to straighten your teeth. I take it, you may be in pain, since no new video as yet.

Well, it looks like our posts crossed; congratulations and welcome to the Club...It all looks good and I can see that one canine is not attached as mine was when I started. I tell you, you will be astonished and happy when your top arch is there and all the teeth are wired in. My ortho used springs to make space, so not sure what urs will use...

Say, why did you go for ceramics on top?

Hi bracesafter40,

firstly i have many many youtube vids, and i can say for every 2 good comments you get some ar$ehole leaving horrible comments, just people being anonymously nasty, to the point where i cant be doing with it. Im not nor would ever consider using youtube as a support source for braces. Any comments about my brace treatment can be left in here as its all postive in here.

I dont need any further space, i have had my first molars removed so have loads of space, until my wire thickens up htough they cant span the gap for fear of breaking.

The reason for ceramics was majorityly coz the ortho said it was best, and i wasnt going to complain about the colour.

Both canines are attatched, its only one incisor thats too far back to get to the wire, im guessing a bit more space is required.

Yeah as you said, seeing movement is prob the most rewarding thing, i personally like you would be over th emoon for it.

Its so early for me, my teeth are just tendering up, to the point where i couldnt eat the wafer bottom of a cornetto ice cream. :(

Oh well, im on the right road, however far the destination sooner or later ill get there.

Thanks for posting
