Martin,

Welcome!! :-88 Woo hoo!!

The first couple of weeks are most difficult, but you've endured plenty with your extraction business. "Soup is your friend" as many have stated, as are mashed potatoes. Get your blender out, chef! (I saw that kitchen pic!!) I put everything in there from fruit smoothies (with frozen seedless fruit and ice cream that cools your mouth) to veggies w/ stock for a nice homemade soup.

Enjoyed the video like everyone. Treat yourself well. You'll do just fine.

Video is great :D
(I have to agree, your hair looks awesome! 8) )You would think they would give everyone a little more wax.
I wasn't expecting the zoo part, so it added a little spice and the babies were so cute. (which I never would've thought they would be, but they are)

I've just had a chance to catch up with your vids, you definitely do have an East Midlands accent! It's going to be really interesting seeing those front teeth of yours coming into alignment!

MARTINS VIDEO DIARY - EPISODE 3

#20 Post by martinboyce »

Hey everyone, day 3 and all is well, no pain, just extreme tenderness on all the teeth, which i expected and can handle so all is good, i have in fact noticed movement, in my lateral incisors the one which is wired is moving into position, but as a side effect the unwired one seems to be getting pushed further back :( Im not going to worry about it im sure itll work out in the end, i just dont like it when things go "lob sided"

Right moving onto my latest video. I decided as i wasnt having any pain or difficulties i would demonstrate my cleaning kit and equipment, including my disclosure tablets and waterpic, both of which are pretty fun.

The entire vid takes place in my bathroom, and was made with all good intentions. I currently cant floss or brush up and down coz of the tenderness but i clean them pretty darn thoroughly, so have showed and demo'd all the stuff i have.

Any newbies or about to be braced people should prob give this a wash as in all seriousness cleaning our teeth so much and so frequently stops them rotting benieth the braces.

I really hope you enjoy the vid guys, i really do love making them, any suggestions for future episodes would be aces too :)

When flossing becomes possible again, you should do a video on that.

There are plenty of folks out there in the braces world who are not shown how by their orthos, some (even on here) have stated that their dentist told them NOT to floss  so obviously they weren't shown how.

A good example to follow would be fabulous!

Keep up your good work.

Nice video! :-} I have never knew watching someone brush their teeth would be interesting, but it was! Looks like you got the hang of it quickly. I see you have a waterpik. Does it have good water pressure? If it does what model is it. Im thinking about getting one.

I know i its basically just a dude cleaning his teeth i just wanted to show newbies and to document myself how much work you need to put in to stop your teeth going bad whilst in braces, plus i want to build a diverse video diary that covers it all, cleanings a big part of it, its now a big part of my life, of anyones life with braces. I try my best to add a slightly humours twist, i do sometimes forget what i wanted to say, bloody aphasia!

jennielee81- yeah ill give it a go, im not a very good flosser, so will need to "brush" up on my flossing, ha!

JML0090 - im not sure what model is ill check when i get home (out of town on laptop at the moment) the pressure on it is beyond what i expected. I think ive got a good 12 ft out of it, lol it was the first thing i tested, in fact it made a week old extraction site bleed as i glanced over it. My only gripe with it is that the charer for it is normal mains, i could have done with a shaver bathroom plug on it.

Thanks for posting guys, you guys rock!

big hug!

hi,
the way you summed up dealing with people you work with and going out on saturday was great! I think we all get those same kinds of reactions. I dont understand why some people are not understanding at all. It will all be worth it in the end though when we have million dollar looking smiles!!

Glad to hear you are feeling ok,

I think you and I got braced right around the same time! I got braced on Feb 20, 2008. I just had my 1st adjustment and I too can't wait for things to start moving a wee bit faster! Keep the videos coming! (oh and I think we have the same water pic too, haha)
