I know for me when they started to close a gap they gave me a powerchain that I wore for about a month on my front 4 teeth..they were a little tender for about 2 days but I hardly noticed the power chain..except the thing caught so much food in it!

I thought power chain will be more painful than the training wires since they're moving teeths.
What color of power chain did you choose?
I got inteview coming up so I don't want my braces to be too notice ( metal brace already attract a lot of atention) but I don't want wear yellow one after staining.

I had a hot pink & purple powerchain..but I don't mind people noticing..you can try an off white or a pearl colored one..just watch the coffee intake (I drink coffee through a straw and I notice a lot less discoloring of the ligs)

The power chain didn't really hurt all that much more then the normal ligs i had two powerchains one on the bottom that covered all my teeth..then the next month I had one on the top four teeth..I think the elastics hurt more than the powerchains...

Try not to worry you'll be fine..we always think it's going to hurt more than it does :)

Hi adultbraces
I also had a powerchain added when they said we are going to close the gaps. Not knowing what that was when they asked what color I had no idea they put on silver and you really cant notice it any more than the braces them self.
I think next time I'll try purple.

I've had hot pink, teal, clear, and I think those are the only powerchain colors I've had with my clear braces. No one has ever said anything about my choice of colors and I have worked for executives.

I've had powerchains from day 1 so I didn't see them as any more of a discomfort than just having braces. When getting them changed out at adjustments, I did find them to cause a bit of discomfort to my front teeth and canines. After the adjustments my teeth were tender but nothing some otc pain meds and a few days of not biting into crunchy foods didn't relieve.
Upper and lower 1st premolars extracted
Uppers braced 4/6/07 & Lowers braced 4/20/07
ceramic brackets and rectangular arch wires

I think it is very different for everyone.

My first powerchains I was waking up every morning drooling blood. (Not pretty, sorry, but it's the truth). I had lots of pain too, but couldn't take any pain killers because I was pregnant. It was soft food for a long time, but was better after a few weeks
