I'm 49 years old, danish but living in Norway on my 13. year. My english is not perfect, but I think you understand me anyway.
After struggle with Periodontitis, my teeth is more crooked. I turn to 50 later this year, and when I dont want to have a party, this wil be my gift to my self (18.000 no.kr).
I post some fotoes. The day before braces and the first day (1. april 2008) with braces.

welcome eva ....... your english is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy better than my danish , or norwegian ( of which I know nothing ) or my french or german ( both spoken last about 35 years ago ).
Definately it is nnot too late at 50 ( ish) ... there are several people on here who are just starting out with treatment at that age ...... including myself
you may have gaps and need straightening but your teeth do look lovely and white ....... you will have a great smile when you are all done
Thank you tazzle for your cosy words! I'm so happy to found this forum, because it's not so very funny to go with this espalier in the mouth. But I chose to take it positive, så i named my Bracket for: "my siver-jewellerys".

Hi Eva. I got braces on April 3 and will be 52 years old next month. In addition, I have never participated in a message board. I have so much to learn! Good to know I am not going through this alone.
I found it a great help visiting here even before I got braced .... I kinda knew what might or might not happen so nothing has been a shock to the system.
I think most of all it has helped knowing there are others of our age out there because we are highly unlikely even to see another adult locally with braces. Even at the orthodontist I haven't yet met another adult with braces....... next time I think I might ask the nurse if there ARE others locally
I haven;t started my own thread yet ........ for the first few weeks after braces I was away from home ( and computer) staying with my mum as she was ill. Back home now and just catching up !
It is great to see some slight movement already ..... despite it being said movements are a lot slower with us adults The ortho sqaid the whole process ( including surgey ) will probably be two years ....... not that long really
Bracedagain. Hmm, so you know about Perio problems? Dont all right when it's culminate in sugery. Good to hear you are in good way with your braces journey! Where can I read your story?
And Jetset, you are so right! I dont think I have be able to this without others to talk with. The support here is super important!
I recognise my teeth all the time, but it don't matter because I know it's because they are moving!

Congratulations on your decision to venture into the orthodontic world. You would be surprised how many other "mature" adults are wearing a tin grin. I am closing in on 60 and have been wearing my metal smile for the past year and a half.
I hope your journey is a smooth one and I am sure you will really enjoy your finished smile.
To day I had have my braces for 3 weeks. I have no problems any longer, no pain and no wound inside my mouth. I now stopped to use the dental-wax. It's so lovely, and now I am sure that this next year will be fine, and I don't think I will think so very must on my braces. My freind think I'm cool to do this when they saw at first time with my braces, but after a while, any of us think about the ting in my munn.
Hello Eva, I am 59 and 1/2 and just had the wire put on for the top braces today. The bottom ones have been on for 3 weeks and I am starting to adjust. You are not the oldest one.... but I never see any other adults with braces so it is nice to read about some. Lindy
I have been reading this forum with great interest. I am 60 years old, and scheduled to have Damon braces put on next week. However, I go between being excited about it to feeling foolish for doing this at such an advanced age! It's a considerable expense, and I have been living with crooked teeth all these years. Some of the stories about the pain and inconvenience of wearing braces I've read on this site make me think twice too. Will it really make a big difference in my life to finally have straight teeth? Can anyone help me through this dilemma?
I am 51 and just got my braces on today. I am so happy to find you all! I might have been able to get by without them but...my dentist has for years been urging me to look into them, and she sent me to a good ortho. He told me he's put braces on people in their 80's!
