I've lost about 3kg in 8 weeks since the braces went on. Mainly been due to not eating between meals, which is a big temptation where I work - always lots of biscuits, cakes, sweeties about. Apart from between meals I'm eating completely normally and everything I used to eat.

This is part of the reason I would like to go for removable braces, if possible - I'm pretty bad at eating anyway, I really only eat one meal a day and never snack - food just doesn't interest me. If I could take a pill every morning and get all my calories and vitamins from it, I would! I'm slim enough already, I think if I went for fixed braces the one meal a day would end up being one meal every two days, due to the hassle of brushing and flossing every time!

I have lost about 5 lbs because like most of you a lot of foods are just not worth the clean up. I also decided to do a detox while on my braces because I was able to eat the fish, rice, steamed veggies and protein shakes a lot easier than to try and find some other healthy foods. So that along with the braces has really changed my eating habits.

Hahah, the braces diet, I LOVE IT. Only because I'm back in my skinny size 8 jeans within a month of being braces. Looks like all this starving (not on purpose LOL, but becuz I am so limited on what I can actually chew/eat) has paid off! WHOOOHOO...now heres to being a size 6 by next month!

I begin my weight loss with my spacers. I have only had my braces on a month and I am down about 8 pounds. I can only imagine what I will level off at. My eating habits haved changed completely and I have almost completely renounced all sweets and pop because I had worrying about what the sugar and acid will do to my teeth. I also love hot corn chips and potatoe chips but the crunching is a little bothersome. Oh well, everyone's jealous of my "new diet". I tell them not to be envious. I just keep thinking about the beautiful smile I will have when I'm done!

Interesting this topic has been bought up.

I deliberately put on a few pounds for a month before I got my braces because I knew I was going to lose weight that I didn't want to lose. In the two weeks since I've had them -- it has all come off and then some.

I weighed myself today and I'm the lowest I've been since high school (I'm 24.)

My teeth have stopped hurting so I can finally chew again, which is great and a huge relief. I'm a little afraid I'm going to get too thin so I try to eat mostly carbs and of course pasta which I have every night. However, my sentence is only 6-8 months.

Jugding from what most people say here, I will eventually going back to eating everything I love, which I hope comes soon because God do I miss burgers and egg & cheese bagels!!!!

I lost 7 pounds the first week of having my braces. I haven't weighed myself for several days though so I may have lost more, I'm not sure. But I'm heavy enough that I have to lose at least 10 or 15 pounds before I could see the difference.

I definitely have not lost weight with my braces. Even if they are sore, they still haven't stopped me from eating my favorite desserts

Hi, Yeah i find that the first week after adjustment, ( i've only had one so far) that i've lost a bit of weight. Like you say sometimes it doesn't seem worth the hassel of eating something that's going to stick in your braces! and then there's the pain of chewing and cheek biting due to eating slowly!! Luckily enough it is only for a few days though. I also don't really want to loose weight as it dosen't come off where i want it to!

I have also lost weight, have braces on since Jan 08. I was 11 stone and a size 12/14 (european sizes) now i'm size 10 which is loose and and 10 stone. Don't want to lose anymore to be honest. I've been trying to get down a dress size for a while now and had gotten to the point where I had accepted I wasn't going to lose weight, threw out my smaller clothes, went out and bought a new wardrobe of clothes size 12/14, now I've lost weight none of them fit me!!! I can't win!
