curious about changes

#1 Post by chiclet123 »

I am trying to decide between all clear or all metal braces. I have noticed that a handful of people here have switched from some ceramic to all metal partway through treatment and wondered about your reasons.
Was it a comfort issue? or were there things that arose during treatment that ceramics were not ideal for?
Just curious and trying to arm myself with as much info before my consult as possible!
The longest journey begins with a single step.

I switched due to not being able to keep ceramics on. My ortho basically said there are some people's enamels that the ceramics don't glue on well. I've had metals for nine months without a loose bracket. I averaged a loose bracket a month with the ceramics.

The metals are more comfortable for me. As for appearance, whether they be ceramic or metal, they're braces. They have archwires and rubber bands.

I also like the idea that the metals show well enough that people don't stare at them and try to figure out what's on my teeth.

I much prefer the metal braces over the ceramics.

I wore braces (this time) for 1294 days or 3 years, 6 months and 17 days.
But who's counting?
