Yea, im pretty sure i could eat the foods ive been avoiding since ive gotten braces, i just dont want to deal with the potential mess and possible broken brackets afterwards.
People have offered me gum and caramel-type candy, but i usually get myself worked up the most when i see, smell, or hear someone popping popcorn.
SIGH. Ima have HUGE, OVER BUTTERED TUB of it when my braces come off. My gums are gonna hate me

I chew gum (sugarless) with no problem. Keeps the blood flowing through the gums and actually lessens soreness. I've got elastics and headgear and have had no problems.
Salads and greens like spinach which I love are messy but edible. Nuts such as peanuts cashews and pecans are ok, but the harder almonds and filberts can be a bit much. Crusty chewy bread I dunk first, and I cut meat off the bones and corn off the cob.
I miss apples. Even the skin bothers me and a cut up skinned apple is blah...no fun. Baked apples aren't the same thing. Pop corn is just too messy.
I don't think anything else has been a problem.

To cover up any blemishes, discoloration, stains, mold, etc., which might put off potential consumers.bracedagain wrote:Ah, forgot to add pistachios are ok too. Just not the red ones. Why do they do that to them anyway?
Meryaten I can't believe your ortho hosts movies. That's pretty interesting. Wish my ortho did stuff like that.
Someone offered me a chocolate from a See's assortment box, I didn't know what was what so I just grabbed the one that was closest to me. Turned out to be a chocolate covered caramel that was so hard I couldn't even take a bite out of it. I'm not a caramel fan anyway so I didn't miss much.
Fortunately, I can still eat everything that I like (except when teeth are sore).

Yeah popcorn isn't bad, although not recommended from personal experience 1, 2 days after adjustment (yes, I did have popcorn about 24 hrs. later - hurt, but stuck it out)

There isn't much I haven't eaten. Sure, some things require some extra cleanup, but my list of things I don't eat is pretty short.
Corn on the cob
Carmel Apples - I have eaten them cut into small pieces, but it wasn't the same as just chomping in and the carmel was tough to clean.
Suckers/Lollipops - I have eaten them, but I like to hold them between my teeth and my cheeks and it just doesn't work with braces.
One of the worst things to clean up after for me are egg/spring rolls. The shredded cabbage bits find their way into every nook and cranny.

Tracker bars - I thought I could break bits off, but even then chewing was impossible!
Yorkies - possibly the best chocolate bar, I was reduced to sucking the chunks until small enough to chew!
Finally, barbecues are a daunting proposition! I somehow got through various burgers and sausages, but the chicken was out of bounds!

It's all gone a bit dental...

Okay,
this is a bit embarassing, but especially after a couple of months into Invisalign, I often kept forgetting I was wearing them. I'm a teacher, and we were on this class-trip, and one of my students offered me a REALLY chewy caramell.
Since I hadn't been eating all day due to the tight schedule of our programme, I accepted it gladly and popped it in...
Oh dear... My aligners just stuck together, I just couldn't wrench them apart! I just kept making funny noises and started salivating like crazy. Fortunately, there was a bathroom nearby, so I just went there and took care of the problem. OMG, my pupils must have thought I had swallowed my dentures or something, hahaha... not funny...
I explained it to them afterwards, and it was embarassing for me because I never wanted anyone to know that I was wearing braces (hence Invisalign).
They were cool about it, though!

I just remembered that a friend who wore braces as a child told me that she used to chew gum and eat crunchy food such as nuts all time, but she managed to pop off two brackets when she was eating a tuna toast...
(One of my collegues recently broke off a part of her molar when eating a piece of chocolate, but that tooth seemed to have been decayed for quite so time. )

I love Toblerone and so make the effort to cut it up and eat in slowly.
The worst food I've had in braces is macadamia nuts, they instantly shatter when bitten between molars into a thousand pieces which immediately become lodged in every space possible and refuse to shift with any amount of surreptitious swilling with drinks.

Not the worst food ever but since I'm only coming up to 2 weeks being braced, my husband excelled himself yesterday.
We had a day out at the beach and he went to buy us all ice cream...got ice cream in tubs with spoons for the kids, got me a wafer cone! I ended up having the ice cream and then nicking my son's spoon to eat the ice cream that had fallen to the bottom of the cone, and let him have the cone as thanks for the spoon
Then we came home and my husband cooked supper...stir fried beef & noodles! Could only eat the beef in tiny wee pieces and got fed up as it got cold quicker than I could eat it. He asked me if the noodles were ok and my reply was a short 'well would you like to have just a plate of plain noodles for tea?'
Last time I had braces, I remember that the one and only time I broke a wire was eating a pear drop.

Funny stories everyone
I eat a few no-no's eg
Chocolate (softer ones like Kinder Bueno, Galaxy and others like KitKat), Popcorn.
I remember when I'd had an adjustment and brought myself Dairy Milk Wafer and then put in in my mouth and thought I can't chew this. So I spent ages sucking it. It was worth it!
OMG Dime is quite a hard chocolate to eat, they were only the small share ones you get but they kept on getting stuck to the top of my mouth once I'd sucked the chocolate off.

Just realised I actually went off topic
The worst thing I have been offered is chewing gum and toffee.
