Speaking of popcorn, you should eat some before you get your spacers....if it's a food you enjoy. It may be a while until you can munch on some again. (I believe it's on the forbidden foods list, although there are a lot of people here who say they eat it anyway....slowly and carefully.)

Good luck with the spacers!
Getting the spacers put in is really no big deal - it doesn't take long - but you'll finally be on your way and that will feel really good!

My ortho's assistant described the feeling of spacers as having Sunday's roast chicken stuck between your teeth. I'd say that's pretty accurate. :)

Alright! so I just got my spacers put in! heres how the appointment went:

I was early to the appointment even though I stopped off at dunkin donuts to get my last salt bagel for the next 16 months  . The staff was still off at lunch so i sat in my car outside enjoying the bagel and coffee... Then when I went inside i gave the receptionist the $800 deposit and she sat me in a room where I had to watch this video about how the braces and spacers will be put on...
Image

Then The assistant brought me to the back room and I asked if I could brush the bagel and what not out of my teeth and floss and they let me then I sat down in a big comfy chair... she then leaned the chair back and showed me the spacers and stretched them open with these big tweezers. She explained that she would be using a sawing motion to get them in and I would have 8 all together. She then popped them all in.. i felt a little pressure but noting too bad... and then she gave me this curved mouth shaped piece of rubber to chew on when i need to put pressure on the teeth to ease the pain... She also said that I might be hurting right before I go to bed and to also stay away from sticky foods.... I then signed a consent form on my way out and my payments are 220 a month every 15th... not too bad!

So far the pressure is bearable but as time progresses I find that the aching isn't easing up and the pressure is causing a dull pain but like i said its bearable... so far anyway :P

So here are some pics of my evil new spacers of DOOOOOOOOOM!!!!

All in all it was an easy app after all!! AND NOW FOR THE 1 WEEK COUNT DOWN!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!

Woohoo! Does everything feel more official now? I know when I got my spacers, I felt like everything was finally happening. :)

I love the color, by the way. A nice periwinkle.

deff feels like its underway!!!! Finally!! But its a pain to eat I keep thinking food is stuck in my teeth and I got to push it out with my tongue!!! I'm afraid of popping them out while chewing and then swallow them!! Is that normal?
