4months on, can plates come loose?

#1 Post by Daveyboy »

Hi All,

I'm now 4 months post BSSO and I thought everything was going really well. However this morning I woke up with a swollen "lump" on one side of my jaw on the outside of my 2nd tooth from the back.

I've been to the dentist who's taken an Xray and will forward onto the surgeon, but out of interest, does anyone know the likelyhood of one of the screws coming "loose"?

I did hear a little click last night when brushing my teeth, but didn't feel anything. I'm hoping that if something has shifted/moved, that the swelling is because of this and it will settle down again!

Has anyone on here had the plates removed?

Many thanks
Dave

Hey :D

I had one of my plates removed at 12 weeks post op due to infection.

Mine never settled right from the day of surgery tho :? and i always had significant swelling on that side. Its definatley possible for a screw to come loose, even after 4 months.

Hope its nothing to serious, if you want more details about my plate removal check out my blog (bottom of post) or PM me.
