Stitch's Braces - 8 Week Update

#1 Post by stitch »

Hi everyone,

I thought I'd make a new thread about my progress, seeing as how I only had the introductory one in the 'Bracket Club' section.

First, here's my pictures soon after the braces were put on, about 7 weeks ago (all pictures are clickable for a larger version):

Way back then I was wondering how the lower incisors would be able to move since it was pretty crowded in there:

Well, that question has been answered...

Next post: We have Movement! :o

It's funny how you can stare at your teeth everyday for weeks, straining to see if there's any movement at all. And then, you realise - "Wow!" - that moment came for me a couple of days ago. Here's the pictures:

I'm happy about the movement in my lower incisors! There's still a way to go, but it's encouraging to see progress being made.

There's been a bit of movement too in the upper central incisors too - this has made my overbite a bit more pronounced (my ortho did say this would happen), as they're not so tilted inwards now and are starting to rotate towards their correct position.

I had my first adjustment last week, and although the archwire wasn't changed to a new one, the ortho took off almost all of the ligs and replaced them with wire ties. No more stained ligs! Well, until the next adjustment, I guess... :)

Hello Stich,

Your teeth look great and the progress is fantastic....you must be really happy.....

I look at my teeth every day- you cant help yourself.... looking for changes too..... LOL

PS: we were braced at the same time ...... how long is
your treatment?

Thanks for dropping in on my story, the secret to white teeth is wear pink lipstick ( I am sure you will find that fun!) when taking the photo and use a room with LOTS of natural light... some of my picks gave me yellow teeth its all to do with the lighting in the room...

Yes- keep in touch we can be brace twin buddies.....

Hi Sara - thanks for your encouraging words. My ortho said I'd be in braces for 2 years. What about you?

I know - two years sounds like quite a long time, doesn't it? You're lucky, you've only been given an 18-month sentence! I guess it all depends on how fast the teeth decide to move and then settle down though, so here's hoping things go quicker for both of us.

Nice progress! It is funny how you can stare at those teeth and they don't seem to move, then all of sudden, Bingo! they seem to have magically made that progress.

Anyway , your arches are starting to shape up nicely. Keep up the good work and those 2 yrs. will fly by. I'm just about to hit that mark soon and it really doesn't seem like it has been that long. Honestly!

Cya' Later! Ken.
Hi Ken, thanks for the kind comments. Hopefully you won't have too much longer to go. Looking forward to seeing some more of your progress pics.

Stitch, your lower arch is looking good! Your crowding is really evening out. I have crowding on the bottom too and have been in braces for 2 weeks. I look in the miror every day to see if there is movement. Your pics have really inspired me.

Two years will fly by. Maybe you'll end up getting them off sooner than that if your teeth keep moving so quickly.

Nice movement Stich. Ken's right, the two years will fly by especially when you compare your before and after pictures. I'm about to hit the 21 month mark and can't believe how much my teeth have changed. In the end it will all be worth it.
