second surgery : price normal for braces?

#1 Post by Stephany »

Hey people,

i just got to know today, that i'll need a second jaw surgery. i had a bimax in february but my jaw is still not completly aligned..

so for now ill start by letting my teeth aligned in the lower jaw with clear brackets, since the upper teeth dont need to be moved anymore..
the price would be 3000 dollars for 6 months orthodontic treatment.
and im in miami now...

do you think thats more or less ok, or should i keep on searching, in hope to find better prices?

i know costs vary, and nobody can tell me the exact cost of my treatment, i would be just glad to get a guideline more or less, since i have no idea how prices should be here in us, i just came here from europe...

thanks in advance, and oh, i tried to find info in the search thing, but couldnt really find it...

greetings, stephany

ok, thanx for the info..

i went to the surgeon and the ortho who works with him together, and both said, that if somehow possible, they would close my bite without another surgery, only with braces..

so now im really hoping for that possibility, id have to wear another 18 month braces, but still thousand times better then a surgery again.

thursday im gonna get the response..

greetings, stephany

My orthodontic treatment is supposed to be 18 months and I have ceramic brackets on top, metal on bottom. My total cost was $4,660. Your price does seem a bit steep, but I know that ceramic brackets are more expensive and part of the price could be attributed to being in a large city like Miami.

Have you tried calling around to other local orthodontists to see if they give you a similar quote?

ok thanx...

ive seen an other ortho yesterday, which worked on lots of surgery cases, and communicates a lot with the surgeon too, which, as far as ive expirienced, isnt always like that. hes going to consult with him if its possible to resolve it wihtout a second surgery. if it is, i would be in braces for the 18 month, clear braces, which would be 6280 dollars..

i think i could arrange myself with that price, its not bad, and i liked his office, the assistents and everything..

he would move rather lot, since there are more things out of line then before the first surgery.. :(

i just can hope that its possible without surgery...

hey another question... am i right that the orthos tend to say the maximum of time in braces, since if its still not finished at the estimated time, they would keep on working without an extra charge??
so is there hope that its rather less then more time in braces?

of course... i hoped somebody would say, yes, it probably takes less time, lolz...

but counted with another response... i just hope its a bit faster, last time with braces the ortho was really happy how fast my teeth moved on the top, i hope the bottoms chose to do that too, hehe...
