My third surgery was in December. Just now I have finally regained feeling in my upper left side (upper right came back more quickly).

My lower lip is slowly regaining from BSSO about a year ago. Change is slowly taking place.

Breathe, and have patience. Your body knows. And that amazing machine is working to heal...constantly!

Cheers,

Phil

I don't know if I count since I only had SARPE, but my upper teeth and gums are still numb, except for the space between my front teeth where the expansion is happening. :)
Lower braces: 7/1/08
Expander installed: 7/8/08
SARPE: 7/15/08
First adjustment for lowers: 8/5/08
Expander tied: 8/11/08
Upper braces: 8/28/08
Lefort I & BSSO: 1/8/13

lueyfufu,

Yes, you can temporarily lose sensation from SARPE. I did with mine. It comes back.

Patience...

haha, i must be the only one that doesnt mind being numb on the gums. i was numb last year from my sarpe for several months if i remember correctly. since it came back the first time, im confident the same will happen this time...however, i must be silly, i dont mind the numbness because cleaning is easier. i hate when the bristles of the toothbrush poke my gums, but now that its numb (again) i just brush. i know im not pushing hard enough to hurt myself or draw blood, so no harm done. i have feeling under my tongue and on the inside of my bottom gums. in due time...

Back in January I had major upper jaw surgery [roof of my mouth cut open from the top in three pieces, 6 weeks of wired shut, etc.] and the entire roof of my mouth and upper gums are still numb.
So at almost 9 months, I'm worried that it might permanently be that way! I'm getting my braces off in a few weeks and I already know I am going to need a couple fillings. I'm not looking forward to a needle going into my already awkwardly numb gums.
Anyone have a similar experience?

I'm one year and almost 16 months post op. I had SARPE, then 15 months later had upper, lower, and genio. I have gotten most of my feeling back in my gums, chin etc. But I still have a few patchy spots in my lower lip area. It is tingly and I can tell it is going to come back but it is slow going.

I can feel all of my teeth now though. Hang tight, as it really takes awhile. I found it took just about 15 months exactly for me to get full feeling back after SARPE. I got it back, and then less then 2 weeks later I went under the knife again and started over.
