Do you know what brand your clear brackets are?

Hi everyone!

For those of you with clear brackets, do you know what brand they are? Is there a favorite?

I checked with my ortho, and she said they use GAC Allure brackets. After doing a search, I haven't been able to find any pictures of someone with them on. (Other than the pictures in the company's ads, which of course ALWAYS look beautiful and retouched.)

I'm curious to see how they will look!

Although if I remember right, Mystique look nice and so did something called Ice?

Mine our InVu. I did the same thing with researching bracket types before I got them on, then once I got them I realized it probably didn't matter much anyway. Ceramic brackets all pretty much look the same IMO, the differences aren't usually noticable.

I believe mine are GAC.. I just have clear on top, though.. I do have pictures posted on here somewhere.. and lots more on my phone lol.. some are on my myspace.. I suppose if you want to see a picture of my teeth up close to see the brackets I can show you

I had Opals. They really are significantly different in appearence. Here's a picture of them in my mouth. Only 2 people on Arch Wired in the past 4 years have had them, not sure they are used much in the US...or anywhere for that matter. Heck, I don't know if my ortho still uses them...

They held the wire...that's it. I liked these because they were VERY smooth. BUT, they weren't really up to the challenge at one point and almost had to have them replaced with metal. In the end they did the job with a little extra orthodontist effort and patience all around.

So, yes, I knew the name of mine....but mine were FREAKS!

Hi! I was told I have that "Ice" brand too. I wouldn't know how to compare them with any of the other types of brackets (this is my first time in braces at the age of 37), but I have been wearing them for 12 days now and I still find that they are "pokey", which is probably normal. I'm just happy to have gotten through that tough first week! Anyway, I just have been using a lot of wax. You'll probably do the same, depending on what type of bracket you end up doing. In fact, I would recommend using wax from the start. The wax saves you *big time* from chafing and unwanted canker sores (already been there, done that!). Best of luck with your braces!

Lovely! I think the clear brackets look so nice.

I've also noticed that some people have white or light-colored wires as well, while some still have metal. The light colored ones are cool! I wonder if they stain at all. That would not be cool, to have your archwire staining as well as your ligs.

I have In-Ovation C top and bottom with the rodium coated wire. It is silver, but less noticeable than other silver wires. It is kind of frosted like the metal clips on my brackets. I have some In-Ovation R brackets on my lower arch on the side and you can really tell difference between the wire and the brackets.

I have noticed the InVu brackets with the white wire. The people I see with that wire/bracket. That combo is almost impossible to detect that the person has braces. You really have to look.

My ortho didn't have those and I didn't bring it up to him. I went with his skill instead of the brackets. I like my brackets/wire combo. People tell me they are not noticeable, but they seem so noticeable to me. I don't really care if people notice now that I have them. Before I got them on I cared if people would be able to tell. Now that I have them on I could care less. It is amazing how the perspective changes after you get the braces on.

They don't chip because it is still silver. It is a frosted shade. White is less noticeable.

It is a GAC Bioforce wire.

Haha, I do like that they are called High Aesthetic archwires, in a faux-technical style. Sounds much more official than Super Pretty Archwires. Or Ultra Beautimous Archwires.

And they are even made by GAC, how perfect. Perhaps I will annoy my ortho with silly aesthetic questions tomorrow!

People tell me they're not noticeable as much as regular braces. I get the you can hardly tell thing. I like them and I am glad I went with through with this so far.

I was told I will get a stronger archwire on the top 06 OCT and a chain elastic on the bottom. Who knows what the new wire will look like.

Seems to me, even if the rhodium or white archwires are only available for part of treatment, the beginning part is the best.
Once people (including myself) are already used to the braces, it'll be cool to have more visible stuff.
Like colored ligs!
And power chains everywhere!
Oooh, I wonder if someone could figure out a way to embed little LED lights in braces - we could have teeny lights chasing around our teeth! It could spell out our names! Or pithy messages!

I'm going overboard, aren't I. . .

Those frosted wires do look nice.

I just asked what brand my clear brackets were today and was told they are GAC and plastic not ceramic.

I asked a few months ago when I saw a Clarity brochure at the orthos if mine were those and was told Spirit Plus. After some digging around, I found them on the Ormco website and they appear to be plastic (it said polycarbonate).

I was a bit concerned that they were plastic, especially given what I paid for them as an extra over metal braces. But I have been very happy with the appearance of them and have not had any issues at all. And my orthodontist is clearly used to and happy working with them (although she also works with metal and Clarity).
